DVR Recording being Erased without Action being taken to Do So

My wired set top box is a VIP2262.  I have had it replaced once because programs recorded  would remain on the box for 2-3 days and then be deleted without me initiating the delete command to remove.  It is now doing the same removal with the second VIP2262 box.  I am wondering if there is a software programming issue that has occurred in the last month that might cause this.  There is no option in the menu to auto delete DVR recordings (that I can find). They have to be deleted manually unless the disk in full and I have 100% space availability on the disk.  I have done all the reboot commands on both gateway, box and wifi.  Still no success.  Have dealt with tech support and they suggested the new box

Anyone else encountering this issue?  Does the VIP 2262 box have a coding flaw?

Recordings can delete due to space issues automatically.  The options... button when you record let you decide when automatic space management should deal with the recording.

However, what you might be experiencing is an issue communicating between a client and the DVR.  Are you watching on the DVR itself, or on a remote TV receiver?

If you use the U-Verse app to schedule recordings, you can have them "save until I delete" which is what I do.

@Golf3782

Don’t have that box so can’t help directly.   The actual title information of the recordings I believe are stored on att servers.   Not sure if you will get this issue resolved.

I am watching on the DVR itself, not a remote TV.

Okay @Golf3782 , then they're really getting deleted.  I would check the retention status.  And if they're getting recorded at all.

I changed all retention status to "Keep All Episodes until I erase" yet they continue to disappear.

See if they’ll send you a different brand of DVR.

This happened to me as well.  Came home after a weekend away and nearly all of my shows were deleted.  I did not have a space issue.  Had at least 30% free.  This is the second time it has happened to me.  I leave them all "keep All Episodes until I erase".  Is there any way to test the DVR for failure?

How do i get a new/replacement DVR?

Thanks in advance,

Chris

Call 800-288-2020 for a new DVR. Send the old one back in the same box at any FedEx or UPS store.

You'll lose saved shows, but not your schedule. You'll have to re-hide any channels you don't want to see, re-do favorites, etc.
