External Hard Drive DVR Recordings

I have an external hard drive that I keep DVR recordings on (I currently have DISH - I can move them back and forth - and can watch them from the hard drive).  If I switch to AT&T and their DVR, will I be able to still watch & connect the external hard drive to their box?
