Home theater set up no longer powers on with single remote

I have my Vizio M65-DO and my U-Verse box each connected by HDMI to my Pioneer home theater receiver. Are used to be able to power on everything with my U-verse remote. However, this no longer works. It stopped working after I use the smart cast future once on my TV.

I think what is happening is  The remote powers on the U-verse box and the TV immediately. The TV stars looking for a video signal, but the receiver take several seconds before it powers on. Once it powers on it seems like it takes a few more seconds to process something, and by the time it’s finished the TV says “receiver is connected to HDMI one”. “HDMI one has no video signal.”

i then have to grad grad the receiver remote and cycle all the way through the receiver inputs back to the one the TV is plugged into to get the tv to recognize the video signal.

Any idea how I can get this all to happen with my U-Verse remote?

Not sure what that is but perhaps you are now tripping over a HDMI HDCP handshaking problem.  You said you "cycle all the way through the receiver inputs" to get it to work again.  As an experiment, instead of doing that try unplugging and plugging back in the hdmi cable to see if that works.  Another experiment would be to "manually" turn off and turn on the tv.  If these experiments restore the hdmi connection then it probably is a HDMI handshaking problem.

If it is a hand shaking problem I don't know why you are seeing it now and not previously.  Maybe try a different HDMI cable, or another HDMI socket on your tv.  Of course you could always use component cables.
