How to record a recurring time slot instead of a recurring program

With U-Verse is there a way to record a recurring time slot instead of a recurring program?  The program name changes every week so there is no "series" to record but I still want to record whatever program is in the time slot.

Manual recording only allows for specifying a single date and time range.  There is no prevision for what you want.

_xyzzy_,

Well, that is NOT the answer I wanted to hear, but, it is the answer I needed to know.

Thanks,

Sorry, it is what it is.

You got me curious, what time slot and station (callsign not channel number because channel may be non-existent or different at my location) has a program without a fixed program name?

xyzzy,

The channel is the Hallmark Channel (not Hallmark Movie Channel) at 8:00pm every Saturday.  The program name is the name of the movie being shown which changes every week.

Thanks,

Hmm, you're right!  All I can suggest is to find an email address for the Hallmark Channel and explain to them how not giving that time slot a fixed title makes series scheduling impossible. Maybe they will get creative in some way.   Or not.  Do other cable system's dvr's allow repeated recordings by time/date in addition to title?  If so you probably won't get much sympathy from them.  They probably won't even consider it just for ATT.

Of course contact re-negotiations with Hallmark are coming up shortly (link).  So maybe the problem is just academic if the channels go away.

I found the same (sort of) problem when DVRing "Survivor".  Survivor is on every Wed. night but the name changes (slightly) each season.  This year it's Survivor: Heroes, Healers and Hustlers but one year it was Survivor: Blood vs. Water and one year it was Survivor: Redemption Island

Any deviation of the name and the DVR won't record so I have to set up a new Series Record each season.

That is common for stations to show movies under a regular host format. Of course they put the movie title in the guide, to attract the audience.

'Creature Features' for example 🙂 .
