I want ONE recording of ALL episodes: How do I do that?

I switched to U-Verse last week after a long, mostly happy, history with DirecTV.  The U-Verse DVR is confounding me regarding my Topic Question here.

Now having Showtime after a long break, I would like to catch up mid-season on some current shows, and I would also like to record episodes from previous seasons as they pop up (and they do pop up!).

Whether online or in-person with my DVR interface, I see the following options:

a) "New episodes" or "New episodes and reruns"

b) "Any day at around this time", "Any day, once per day", "Any day, anytime"

(The other options seem entirely unrelated to my concern here)

Yes, I want  "(All) New Episodes AND (All) Reruns"... BUT I ONLY WANT ONE RECORDING of each individual episode!

Yes, reruns of the current season are often run "around the same time" as the new shows of the current season, but reruns of previous seasons (which I have missed)  can pop up at any time on any day.

When I select "New episodes and reruns" and "any day, any time", I see that my DVR Schedule becomes loaded with MULTIPLE recordings of the SAME episode.

How may I obtain ONE recording of ALL episodes on the U-Verse Total Home DVR?

Thank you for your help.

Wouldn't it be simplier just to go to Showtime On Demand and see them that way or are you wanting to  'keep' episodes on the DVR?

If you're setting recording up on the DVR itself, I've never seen what you're saying happen.

If you set it up via the online DVR Manager, it will by default set recordings across ALL channels, because it searches not only Showtime, but ALL channels.  So if you wanted to record "King of Queens", the DVR could pick up the ones TBS shows, the ones in syndication on one of your local stations, ones on TV Land, and so on.  I've not played with the U-verse version of DVR Manager except setting a single recording and deleting ones when I've not been at home, so I don't know how it all plays out.

I just tried this by setting "Family Guy" on TBS and TBS-W as series.  Since I set 1112 as a higher priority than 1113, the programs on 1112 record first and the DVR sees those episodes and will not record the ones three hours later on 1113.

Even if you set a series record on EVERY Showtime channel, the DVR is going to not record any that it sees it already has recorded (or is scheduled to record).

Attach a picture of what's happening if this continues, so we can see what's going on.  As I say, I've never had this happen on my end.
