Is my uverse box always supposed to be warm and have a humming sound?
My main u-verse box always warm and humming, model # VIP 2250. This box replaced another, different model number.The old box didn't do this.
So my question is,,,IS THE BOX ALWAYS SUPPOSED TO BE WARM AND HUMMING?
I called tech support, who said it was because the box was turned on. It took her a long while to tell me that, and I think she was assuming.

It's a dvr so it has a spinning hard drive in it. How close to the dvr are you listening for the humming? If it's across the room then you probably need to get the dvr replaced.
Also the hard drive and some of the components do give off heat. So it will be fairly warm to the touch. That's why the dvr has vents and why you should give it plenty of room for ventilation.
