iTS ALL GONE - RECORDINGS. Far North East Illinois
At about 4pm today 5-24-2019 my TV's displayed a gear symbol in the center of the screen. As we were leaving at that time, we turned off the TV and left. Returned home about 5 hours later and ALL OF THE RECORDINGS WERE GONE. My other settings remain ; special channel lists, favorite on demand list, future record series, were still there BUT NO RECORDED ITEMS. Which eliminated my Bing watching plans. WHAT DID YOU GUYS DO TO CAUSE THIS? and why? If I don't a satisfactory answer, this will be the last straw, I am cutting the cord. Looking at some of the other posts, fault is placed every where expect the cable / U-verse office.

Sounds like it automatically went into non-disaster recovery (see step 3 in post 1 of this thread) and I suspect it did it because something happened to the hard drive serious enough to cause it (never heard anyone reporting that before, i.e., a auto-non-disaster recovery). So either the recordings were going to be inaccessible due to the drive failure or the non-disaster recovery was an attempt to at least try to get the drive back in working order again. It normally doesn't delete the recordings (disaster recovery does but you said your settings weren't affected) but if the problem was serious enough then apparently the recordings were the price needed to recover the drive.
If my theory is correct I still wouldn't trust that drive and ask for a replacement dvr. If it happened once it probably could happen again. Your recordings are lost anyhow so you got nothing to lose. Note you do not lose your scheduling when you replace the dvr since that's not stored on the dvr.
I could swear I answered your other thread (not sure why you started this one) but for some reason my reply is missing. Maybe I forgot to hit the reply button. Oh well.

Now my missing reply is showing in that other thread. Not sure why I didn't see it when reply to this thread.
Weird forum behavior I guess.
