Forgive the cross-post ...

The new KCWE-DT (CW) and KCMO-DT HD channels are coming in fine.

But KCPT-DT (PBS) on channel 1019 has a HUGE problem.  AT&T is passing the SD subchannel feed from KCPT and NOT the HD feed.  So all of the PBS HD programming is being boxed and shown in SD.  You can tell because on the OTA antenna their HD feed has a bug that says "KCPT-DT" whereas the SD feed bug just says "KCPT".  Guess which one is showing on 1019?? You got it .... "KCPT".

*** AT&T PLEASE FIX THIS PROBLEM SO WE CAN WATCH PBS IN HD HERE IN KC!!!! ***

I noticed that U-Verse is pulling in the correct feed for KCPT-DT now.  The only problem now is that the feed always has the closed captioning on it.

I noticed that same thing this evening ... correct HD feed ... forced closed captioning.  I have been speaking with Jeff Evans (VP Tech/Broadcasting at KCPT).  Also, I have been in touch with network center at AT&T.  After several phone calls and emails, we got the HD/SD feed thing fixed.  Jeff Evans also stated that AT&T was planning on carrying all of the KCPT sub-channel feeds eventually, but that it would take time to work out the details.  I will contact both again to let them know about the forced captioning problem so it can be turned off.

Has any NEWER customer (1 month service or less) tried calling Tier 2 Tech Support to see if they will turn on 2 HD streams yet?

I have 2HD/2SD here in KC as of this afternoon (5/20).  It took some creativity but it is possible if you get thru to the right people.  :smileywink:

Hey everyone, I just recently signed up with the AT&T U-Verse TV programming/internet.  I want to get the most out of the HD so can you explain to me what the 2HD streams mean?  I'm having it installed on May 31st and want to be prepared for everything.

Cool thanks.  You think the 2HD is a standard installation now since they offer it in Kansas City?

yep yep  be sure and order the hd for the $10 fee extra

edited for disclaimer :  that if your area is getting the (2hd) turned  on etc new customer should be a snap...

it has been stated new customer first   etc

makes sense they have to be generating an account ne way why not go 2hd if avaialble ...

       my take

As slow as AT&T's new HD channel rollout is going, we are more likely to see Light Rail and Flying Cars in KC first.  :smileyvery-happy:

The real question should be "What occurs first.....AT&T adding more HD channels or a light rail vote (again)?"  Doesn't look like a light rail vote this year now.

Ok - here's a question - how long does it take after they run the fiber and install the vrads before ATT starts setting up U*??

I watched all summer as they moved up and down the main street - NASHUA in Liberty.  There's two tan colored and

washer/dryer sized boxes across the street from me.  2 blocks away are about 3-4 more huge tan colored boxes.  I've been

waiting patiently - now 3 months later........no U*.

I'm ready to go back to Time Warner because I can't get HD Dish signal.  Just standard and I'm tired of waiting........

Anyone got some insight?

Thanks!

I just kept calling to see if it was available.  They had the vrad installed on my block for about 3 or 4 months before the service was available.  One day I called cs and they said it was available and I set up my install.  4 days later I had the service.

NEED HELP?
