Missing recording space

I just noticed today that my DVR says that 69%  of my recording space is available (up to 71 hours SD or up to 26 hours HD remaining). However, I don't have any recordings saved, so where is the other 31% of my recording space? Does the counter include scheduled recordings even though they haven't been recorded yet?

 

I researched this problem here in the forum and found the solution suggested where you unplug the DVR, hold the Down and OK buttons down while plugging it back in, and waiting to see the gears on screen. I did this and the gears appeared. It took about 5 minutes to finally reboot but I still have only 69% of space remaining. What's going on?

Thanks for your help. I guess I need to call support to get them to replace
the DVR, is that right?

I figured out the problem -- I was performing the reset on a STB and not the DVR. Once I did it on the actual DVR, I got 100% of my space back.
