Moving DVR/TV to the other side of the wall

When I had my system installed last year, I asked the tech to put a connection on the opposite side of the wall so I could easily move the TV/DVR to that room in the future. Now that I'm ready to do that, I notice that the connection on that wall is a wide data-type plug, but both of the dual outlets on the current side of the wall are standard phone-size plugs. What does this mean?  What I'd really like to do is leave all the equipment in the current room except the DVR&TV, so I'm really just wanting to have that line from the modem to the DVR plug into the second plug on the current side of the wall and then be able to plug the DVR into the jack on the opposite side of the wall. But with 2 different plugs, I don't know if that's possible. Also, I took out the data jack on the opposite side and notice that it only has 4 of the 8 wires connected. What does that mean?

@doctorwhodunnit - It is possible that there is a very simple solution to your problem.

The wide jack is RJ-45 & the narrow one RJ-11. You can google for wiring details.

For the current bandwidth, you only need the four wires - Proven because the RJ-11 works.

Extend that to the rj-45 jack & yoy will find that the rj-11 plug will seat nicely in the bigger rj-45 jack & provide service.

@doctorwhodunnit - A couple more things to think about - look into -

Where does the other end of that connection go? It needs to go to a connection on the RG or a switch - No more splicing wires. You do not even want to mix internet and TV on the same leg back to the RG.

If the jacks are on opposite sides of the wall would it help just to swap walls - push them through the openings in the wall so that they end up on the other side.
