NVG589 Magicjack and HDMI
I have an NVG589 Modem and my magic Jack does not work with it either. I tried downloading the manual unsuccessfully. It comes thru as a list of numbers. This Modem replaced my previous modem that got hit by lightning,. ever since my magic jack hasn't worked and none of my Tv's and DVD can connect to the uverse recievers using hdmi. the technician that installed it said id didn't make any sense and set up every tv to run on Componet. While this works it puts me in a position that if I want to run a DVD or game console I have to switch out the component cables because I only have one port.

I'm thinking it is possible that the lightening may have blown the HDMI on the STB(s), the TV(s) or the cable. All you can do is try substituting devices/cable known to work to find out which it is & replace it.

Actually when the lightning hit it only affected the internet and all the tv's were out. The technicial didn't attempt to change out boxes but one is coming tonight and I might make that recommendation to him. I never thought that all 4 boxes would be affected at the same time. Ill post after technicial arrives. The magicjack issue seems to be something separate based on a couple of orher posts I have read.

Ok, to begin with the main TV was serviced after the strike and all inputs were verified. the lightning fried the power board. HDMI was working at the shop when I picked it up and they walked thru all the HDMI inputs as well as Component. The magic jack works fine thru the computer so I kno that works as well as the bridge used to connect it directly to the internet. The technician is coming back tonight and I think I might just recommend swapping out the box on the main TV first to eliminate or confirm that as the problem. I just wish they would have tried that instead of taking the easy way out. My grandkids were bummed with all the cable swapping.

Four set top boxes (6 actually) later the hdni problem was fixed. The two extra boxes were new defective which really complicated things. As for the Magicjack he figured out there was a power problem so I put it on my Ipad adapter and it worked. Not sure I would have ever figured that one out. Thanks for all the replies. The tech was a real workhourse and had to put up with a lot of non support from his people but he did it graciously and not too transparent.
