I received a new VIP2500 wireless receiver to replace an older model receiver.  I tried numerous times following the steps.  Still no luck.

Hello Dufusdad67, we can assist you with your receiver and WAP.

We suggest using the troubleshooting section of our guide that covers how to install a Wireless Access Point and U-verse TV receiver. You'll find that section in the middle of the article. If that doesn't help, we can have a technician come out and do it for you.

If you need us, feel free to reach back out.

I have the exact same problem.  The Arris VIP2500 will connect via ethernet but have no luck establishing a wireless connection even when it is sitting next to a Cisco receiver that works fine wirelessly.  My WAP is a Cisco VEN401-AT.

I have tried all of the. troubleshooting steps cited. I think the receiver is bad or not compatible.

Hi there, @djn11. We understand that you are having a pairing concern with your Arris VIP2500 and your Cisco VEN401-AT. We can look at that together.

Since we are talking about a wireless connection, let's go back to the point of origin and that is the AT&T router. The AT&T router is the main hub for all your connections, internet and U-Verse TV.

First, let's reset the router. Please follow these steps:

  1. Press and hold the gateway Reset button for at least 10 seconds. If you let go before 10 seconds, the gateway will reboot, but it won’t reset.
  2. Wait until the gateway restarts and all the status lights are lit.
  3. See if the Broadband or Service status lights are solid green. If so, the reset worked.

Then, let's reset the WAP. Please note that this will bring the other wireless receivers offline. Follow these steps:

  1. Power cycle the WAP by unplugging the WAP from the electrical outlet for 10 seconds and then plugging it back in. Repeat the pairing process. Wait two minutes to complete pairing.

Next, let's try to pair the receiver again. Follow these steps:

  • Press the WPS button on your WAP.
  • On the front of your wireless receiver, press the OK button within two minutes. Pairing occurs quickly.
  • Confirm that at least three LED green bars are lit on the wireless receiver. When you see a green LED lit on the front of the receiver, you’ve paired successfully. It may take a few minutes for live TV to appear.

If these things do not work, either the receiver or the WAP (Wireless Access Point) needs to be replaced. We can help you with that process as well. Just update us and let us know.

Looking forward to hearing more from you.

I think the receiver is bad.  It was just shipped to me to replace a Cisco receiver that had died.  The Cisco WAP seems to be working fine since it is driving a different Cisco receiver without a problem.

My Current WAP is model number: VEN401-AT   HWVersion V04

Seems it is 10years old

So I would need a new WAP?

I just got off the phone with AT&T advanced technical support and they are sending a new 2nd generation WAP and 2 2nd generation receivers to make sure I have all compatible equipment.

I have same Cisco VEN401-AT WAP and it is not compatible with the 2nd generation receivers.

Unfortunately the "experts" on this forum give the same misinformation as calling into AT&T. The problem is that just as djn11 indicated there is a lack of compatibility with the old generation WAP [VEN401-AT (which operate at 2.4 Ghz) and the new Arris VIP2500 wireless TV receiver (which operates at 5 Ghz). The compatible WAP is the Arris VAP2500.

If AT&T support would just take the time to send out the correct equipment, instead of having its customers jump through hoops (like in this forum) they would have fewer frustrated customers.
