Picture too large for the screen

The picture is too large for the screen, heads cutoff.
1) I have followed tech support instructions 3 times with no results
2) My aspect ratio is correct on both the TV and receivers
3) The gateway has been rebooted
4) The receiver has been rebooted
5) The cables are HDMI
6) The cables are plugged in correctly
7) I have done the aspect ratio test
😎 I know how to use the Zoom feature on the TV and remote. That is not the problem either.

This has happened before, then suddenly weeks later it's back to normal.

Called tech support, they were of no help "we've never heard of anyone having this problem" All I can say is check this forum or google it, LOTS of people have this problem.
One tech said AT&T Uverse just had an update and that sometimes messes up services, but he didn't know how to fix it.

I'm fed up with only seeing the lower half of people's heads on screen!

SEE EXAMPLE BELOW......and NO it is NOT on Zoom

HI @Grammi6,

We are sorry for the issues, but we will be glad to help. When you pull up the guide or the menu, is it too big for the screen too? If so, then it means the entire image is distorted, not just the broadcast. If that's the case, you may want to check your cables or changing your TV settings. If you have another receiver, you can try testing it in this room also to see if it is a receiver issue.

@Grammi6- By #8 zoom feature on the remote, do you mean the U-verse zoom? Bcause that is what the problem should be when the content screen is too big & the menu/guidescreen is not.

Press enter/zoom ( bottom right) button.

Select zoom from menu.

Select normal

Press OK

I was referring to the Zoom on the remote, it's on Normal and always has been.

Sorry, I still wasn't clear, Zoom is on Normal on the Uverse remote.

The Channel guide is normal size.

The guide/menu is normal size. I have checked and triple check the TV settings. I will have my husband try the other receiver in the LR.

The cables were checked by an AT&T tech a couple of months ago. He changed out some wiring to the DVR as well.  I have since re-checked the cables to the receivers and the DVR and TV, they are securely connected.

@Grammi6 - OK - Please bring up the zoom menu as described in post 8 & click through all the possibilities.

See if the picture changes in size. If it does not you need a new STB.

If it does, can you get the picture to appear normal size even though the menu says zoom instead of normal?

When I click through all the various zoom sizes using the Uverse remote it does increase the sizes. It is on Normal and always has been, I've repeatedly checked that.

The picture above is on the "Normal" setting. That is my problem. The normal setting is showing an enlarged picture.

I have also checked the TV settings using the manual, they are correct as well.

@Grammi6 - Sounds like you need a new STB.

@Grammi6   Have you actually tried all the TV format ratios to see if one works correctly.  Remember over the years users have been posting about this and always comes down to another format setting on the TV than what the maker recommends for HDMI.

If there are more HDMI inputs, have you tried those?  Know one user got the 4th of 4 to get Uverse to work properly, 1st 3 displayed it wrong.  Don't ask me why this occurs, but does too often.  Good luck 😉

No it is not the STB. They replaced them, replaced the gateway, replaced the DVR however I have switched from Uverse to DirecTV and problem solved.
