Placement of UVerse DVR
UVerse DVR currently sits on top of old 27" TV. (Installer said not to put it inside my enclosed tv stand.) When new flat screen arrives, will need to relocate DVR, which would be too tall to set under TV screen. Would like to place it on top of large wood cabinet floor speakers. Anything in the speakers that will interfere? Would metal shelves be a bad idea? Thanks.

If you use the speakers, they could interfere w/the DVR and cause problems. If not used like mine, no problem, it's on an old unused speaker. I have it raised an extra inch for great ventilation. 😉

Thanks for your feedback. The tv will take up the entire stand and don't want to buy a new TV stand just for the DVR. Would setting the DVR on a set of iron shelves cause a problem, do you think, i.e., would metal interfere?

Probably would work OK, if not put something non ferrous on the shelf and set the DVR on that. 😉

Thanks! There are just too many pieces to this puzzle. When did buying a tv become such a major undertaking?

I believe you are making too much of it. As with any electronic device it needs good air circulation to prevent overheating. As with any IR device it needs line of sight to the remote.
After that, any possible problems will be unique to your setup & cannot be predicted. If you have a problem with the initial placement, try another.
