Recorded programs overlapping by one minute
I have a recurring situation where a program I have sheduled to record, overlaps the next hour by one minute. That one minute is keeping me from recording something I want in the next hour. You have options to end shows later that the scheduled end time. Why not one option to end the program a few minutes earlier. That last one or two minutes is usually commercials anyway.

The DVR adds 1 minute to the beginning and 2 minutes to the end of each show to guard against the shows starting/ending off schedule. This is a feature for your benefit and is called "soft padding." When you reach the end of your program, if the DVR has more recorded, you can always press STOP.

No, that is not case. The "soft padding" feature is not enabled if it would result in a conflict that would case a program to not record.

Yes. I have seen times that it did not interfere. This one is. It's the Late Nite Chef Fight on the FYI channel Starting at 7 pm and ending at 8:01. My recording at 8 pm had one red X.
This is really weird. I just went in to check the TV to give you the information and the show is no longer starting at 7 pm. I swear it was. Now it is starting at 10 pm so no conflict for me.
Well.......at least it is solved.
One question regarding your answer.....would the soft padding be enabled on all channels or iis it possible that some are skipped....or is it something I can control?

That would not be because of soft padding. It you look in the onscreen program guide, you see the actual end time of the program is 8:01 pm.

Thanks for all of your help. You are usually the one who winds up giving me the answer that I need.
I'm in California, if that matters. Now the show is listed on my guide as starting at 10 pm. And my program channel is 272-W. It was just 272, which is now gone. In any case, that change helped me.
Is there any plan in the works to up the allowed recording to 6 instead of 4? I only watch recorded programs so I tend to record a lot.

I see that that show is on many, many times at various times. Why not set the recording for an off hour??
