Recorded shows not on DVR?
Long story short, the AT&T cable to our house was accidentally severed in a gardening mishap, so we had a tech come out and it was relaid. We initially were told that there was maybe a newer box than the 3 yo one we had, but it apparently wasn't, so nothing changed in that regard.
However, I no longer see any of my recorded shows on the DVR, although I do see the upcoming shows to be recorded. The U-Verse app, however, does show all the recordings, rightly or wrongly.
If in fact they really are there, how can I get them to show up?
TIA

Reboot the gateway (pull plug for 15 secs. and let it fully reboot) and after that the dvr (pull plug for 15 secs.). See if that gets them back.

If you replaced the DVR (that fact is not clear), then your recordings are gone.
Yes, scheduling remains but the recordings are gone and cannot be retrieved.

Only the cable from the street to the house was changed. Nothing inside the house was changed, same box(es) as before.

Did you try the reboots as mentioned in post 2.
Or...
How to Troubleshoot your DVR/Receivers
And if get to the non-disaster recovery step and even that doesn't bring the stuff back then you are correct, they're gone.

OK, we ran thru the non-disaster process, and we see the gear, and sometimes it's a single gear, other times a double gear, but it never brings up anything else, let alone a recovery screen, unless there's something else we need to do? Is there a difference between the single/double gears? Does it take a longish time before the recovery screen appears?

Just for giggles I tried scheduling a short recording for about 10 minutes, starting about 5 minutes from the then current time. The time has come and gone, and it did NOT record it at all. Not looking good 😞
I'm trying to understand why replacing only the outside line did this. The box wasn't even touched, well, other than the main modem of course when the new cable was set up. Not sure what the tech did at the modem, at least in regards to the dvr, everything else is working fine now.

But your post 4 said,
Aren't these two statements in conflict? I thought only the outside line was repaired. But now you say they "touched" your gateway (router/modem). So what does "touched" mean here?
If it was only a outside line fix I don't understand why that would cause your problem either. But if you cannot record then that warrants another service call so I suggest you call tech support to schedule it.

Sorry, my very bad. Yes, only the cable was relaid, but I forgot that when I first tested it to see if the wifi was up, turns out only our 2.4 was up, the 5G we have did not appear to me. The tech had to do something, split it out? to make it appear. I do know he checked the settings by putting our IP address in a browser so he could enter our password, but I don't know what else if anything he may have done. Don't know if there IS anything in them that might cause this problem. I've looked at them too, but while I'm a techie, I'm not an expert in THIS stuff. He did leave his phone #, tho, and we'll call him tomorrow (it's Sunday as I type) about this.

Looking in the IP settings, it does show the DVR as "inactive", where everything else I recognize is active. I know my limitations 🙂 and will not mess with that, but pass it to the tech.

Have you tried factory resetting the gateway? Push red button on the back for about 10 secs. and let it fully reboot. Any settings you may have made to your gateway (e.g., if you changed the wifi ssid/passwords) will be lost. If you do this be sure to reboot the dvr again after the gateway fully comes back up.

We called AT&T again this morning, and long story short, the tech (a different one) had us run thru a number of steps, none of which worked. They will send us a new DVR. The recorded shows are inaccessible anyway, so may as well have a new DVR. I still don't understand how this even happened, but it did, so life moves on I guess. Lesson learned, tho, don't let the recordings pile up! Watch them as soon as possible, 'cause you never know. Thank goodness I should be able to view the missing ones I mainly care about online. Thanks to all who responded.
