Recording shows on U-verse and watching the recorded shows

I have U-verse service and bought a new TV and set it up to use the remote that comes with the TV. I have not been able to figure out how to record shows or to play back the shows that I previously recorded with another TV in our house that uses the U-verse remote. Is it possible to set up the remote that came with the TV to be able to record and playback shows from U-verse? If so, what do I need to do to make that happen? If not, then is it possible to set up the TV to use either the remote that came with the TV and the U-verse remote? If so, what do I need to do to make that happen? Also is it possible to set up my iPhone to use as a TV remote? If so, how do I do that?

We're happy to address your questions about your remote, @dg7652fmj!

And thanks for the helpful information, @baseballisback!

If you need help programming your U-Verse remote in the ways our Ace mentioned, just follow the steps in our online guide.

Select your remote model from the drop-down menu to get started. The section titled 'Program remote by Popular TV Brands (recommended)' is the best place one to follow.

To use your iPhone as a remote, just download the U-Verse Easy Remote app and follow the tutorial. Make sure you already have the U-Verse app on your phone.

You need to use the U-Verse remote to control the U-Verse equipment. However, you can program the U-Verse remote to turn off the sound equipment and TV.

Yes, you can use the Uverse app as a remote.  It should be fairly clear how to use.  Layout is set as per the standard remote.

One caution though, if you use your own network equipment for WiFi and even if it’s just setup as an access point, the app may not find the receivers consistently.
