Red X and unable to reboot

So, I have the Red X on the screen and no dots. I have tried the power reboot, by holding down the down arrow, ok button and power. This is not working as I only get the DVR restarting and back to the red X with no gears. It is the VIP 2250 and worked great for about 9 months. Then about a week ago, I had to restart every time I tried to turn on...now the RED X. Help....

Red X means:

  • Receiver is unable to capture an IP address
  • The fully qualified domain names were unable to resolve
  • Inadequate information is provided to the sync server

Mine did the same thing a couple of Sundays  ago and the tech brought me a slow 1225 Monday as he had no 2550s left on the truck.  Call 1-800-288-2020 and they might be able to give you a tech visit to replace it Tuesday.  Good luck 😉

All of the lights on the front of the DVR are lit solid. Check ethernet cabling and all appears good. Reset the RG...no luck. All green and flashing on the RG. Worked fine as set up for 9 months, guess I 'll have to call for help.

Just as a follow up, I called and setup a tech visit. Came out next day and said the DVR crashed. Swapped out for a new one and all is good.
