I've been trying to delete program from my recordings list remotely (in hotel) using my laptop and wifi. Error message: Cannot communicate with DVR. What's the problem?

Sorry, the problem is it cannot communicate with the DVR.
The solution is - who knows? (the shadow knows)
Your trying to connect to your home network. You should be able to do thatbased on your login. Maybe it will just reappear.

I was afraid of that. All too often, this is what one ends up with on these sorts of forums: No answer. It must be a poltergeist.

Please do not blame the forums. The members can only guess based on expeience. The problem is the content providers and the service delivery companies have intoduced a technology without any way to troubleshoot it.
If you have a problem on a POTS phone & report it a test person can look at the line and decide how to fix it. THis has even become automated.
To have the equivalent for the internet - When you call in they would ask you to connect. They could either see your request or not - If not you would have to find the problem on your end.
If it comes in they should be able to step it through the process & find where it fails.
Instead, of having a technical solution, they point the finger at each other. as failing.
The first attempt for this case (equivalent of reboot for equipment) seems to be a password reset.

Usually the problem is corrected if you logout and login back again. That has always worked for me.

with no problems. The problems I was having were at the three hotels I
was staying in during the past week. Maybe there is some sort of
security feature involving WiFi that is the cause of the problem. At
any rate, it works fine on my cable system here at home.
