We are here to help with your inquiry on your recordings, @clintblack2984,

There is a chance you will lose your recordings. This will depend on what type of box is being replaced. When looking at your DirecTV boxes model number, an H or D indicates a normal receiver, and DVR for a receiver that also records and saves data to it.

DVR

  • The DVR stores all your recording. This receiver is usually a larger box compared to a regular receiver.
    • If this is replaced: recordings will be lost.

Receiver

  • Generally a smaller box compared to the DVR. This receiver receives its permissions from the DVR box.
    • If this is replaced: your recordings will not be lost.

Let us know if this helps.

@ATTHelp   Question is posted in the UVERSE FORUM....not the DirecTV forum....   smdh....

But I will answer the question @clintblack2984   If you are replacing your DVR, you will lose your recordings.  The DVR is the box wired directly to the gateway.  If you are replacing STBs (non-DVR set top boxes) then no, you will NOT lose your recordings.
