S30-S1A remote does not turn on Yamaha receiver

We recently upgraded to a S30-S1A remote. We programmed it to control our TV and Yamaha receiver. It can control the volume (up/down/mute) and turn the receiver off, but does not turn the receiver on when the Power button is pressed (TV and STB come on.)

We followed the instructions from Uverse Help and tried every code listed.

The receiver is a Yamaha RX-V371.

@MikePowers - After programming the device, there are addl steps to select the device the vol controls & add it to the power list - http://www.att.com/esupport/u-verse/remotes/

aviewer: thanks for the reply, but the instructions at that link are not any different from the ones we already followed. There aren't any additional steps beyond "enter programming codes" and "select order of device power on / power off".

Other sources suggested we try codes 5176 and 977 but those had no effect.

@MikePowers - Just want to be sure you completed all three steps correctly.

If your TV or Yamaha has a "universal" remote you could try adding the U-verse STB to one  or both of them.

If your yamaha &/or TV has a CEC feature, turn it off, so you have control, not the equipment.

If the Yamaha is returnable, return it & get a ZVOX. It can be programmed for common TVs,  but does not need to be. Maybe the Yamaha has the same feature.

Get a Logitech Harmony 650 remote.

Both of these replies are wrong. Yamaha receivers use two different IR signals for power. The power button on the Yamaha remote will either send both signals when pressed, or there will be one button for ON and another for OFF. See if the remote you are programming has a LEARN feature, and use your Yamaha remote to teach signal to new remote.

Also, if you find a code that will turn the Yamaha receiver OFF, then there is a good chance one of the other buttons will work to turn it ON. Usually the CH+ or CH- buttons. Not sure what their logic is for having two power signals, and even more perplexed that universal remote manufacturers are not aware of this.
