Saving programs off of DVR

TIVO has the technology to allow you to download/save programs or portions of programs from the DVR to your pc,USB storage etc...Obviously if TIVO can do that ATT can too, right?

I was going to get TIVO,but a store employee at ATT told me that ATT has the same capability.

However, browsing this forum briefly I get the idea that isn't accurate, and more distressingly sense that ATT doesn't consider it important.

I think that's Ridiculous. One of my main complaints with XFinity (which I currently have) is that they don't provide this technology.THAT,and the need to save some money are the primary reasons I was seriously considering TIVO,and am now more receptive to UVerse than before.

It's obviously a VERY important consideration to me.I record stuff to watch it later, but primarily to SAVE it.And being able to clear my DVR AND preserve what I want to save is HUGE for me.So my question is does anyone here have the definitive answer to this question? TIA

IUBOSSFAN- Sure, you can copy recordings into another device. Just connect any output of an STB or the DVR and play it. Note that USB is NOT an output.

The HDMI may be more problematic than the other outputs because it is designed to prevent copying. You may have trouble finding an input that uses HDMI & if you do use it, it may black out some content.
