Simple Fix for "Recordings Unavailable" Message
❌❌STOP, STOP❌❌
Before you try the steps below, and possibly lose all your recordings, check this first - it could save you hours of fustration. I have four TV's, each w/AT&T U-Verse Cisco DVR Receiver box hook up. One of the Cisco DVR Receiver box got accidentally unplugged, this caused all my TV's Cisco Receivers to lose their ability to show DVR recordings. Why I don't know? Check all your receiver boxes and make sure the "Link" green light in front of the receiver is glowing. I hope that helps some of you - let me know. I wasted three hours trying to figure out this problem - why doesn't AT&T U-Verse Troubleshooting Guide mention this anywhere?!! If that's not the case, continue reading.😊
There are several stages of reset on the DVR:
1) Soft Reboot (non-destructive): Hold the power button in for 10 second and let it reboot.
2) Hard Reboot (non-destructive): Unplug the power cord for 30 seconds, then plug it back in and let it reboot.
3) Non-destructive Disaster Recovery (non-destructive): Unplug the power cord for 30 seconds, then plug it back in. When the three large dots on a gray screen appear, unplug the cord again. Repeat this twice more, On the fourth power up, leave it plugged in. This should not erase recordings, but it rebuilds/validates the on disk structure. This can fix format problems on your hard drive and bring back recordings. This can take a long time; last time I did it I think it took over 30 minutes to complete.
4) Full Disaster Recovery (destructive, i.e. wipes out everything on DVR): This involves holding in buttons while plugging it in. I don't remember exactly, but this is the final thing you do before asking for a replacement.
Good Luck!

The poster makes a valid point. In your U-verse IPTV system, you have one DVR and the rest of your receivers rely on the DVR to provide them with recordings. If the DVR is not connected, or if for whatever reason, the Receiver you're trying to operate cannot communicate with the DVR, then you won't be able to see the recording list, or use any of the whole home DVR features.
Note that the disaster recovery procedures Trying2fix lists only really function on the actual DVR box. You can tell which TV Receiver is the DVR by its model number (if you know the model number), or by the fact you can often hear the disk drive spinning up.
