Slow Response Uverse DVR and Remote - Do I have the latest equipment? Or is it really this slow?

I have brand new Giga speed service with U-Verse TV.

My equipment is:

Modem: Pace 5268AC

DVR: VIP 1200

Remote: S30-S1A

I think quality of the equipment has taken a step backwards, as here are some issues.

1)  Help! Slow response rate to everything.

1a ) Changing channels, keying in names of programs etc.  It is to the point of just being painful.  I have tried a universal remote as well and have the same problem.

1b) Slow response with login and changing setting in modem.  I can live with this.. but it just makes everything odd in that I click...wait a few seconds and than screen goes to the next page.

2) There is a delay with Hue Lights switches.  I did not have this problem before...now my hue switch takes time to react.

3) My wifi calling on my ATT phone does not work very well.

4) I took my old modem an Asus AC5300 and set it as an a wifi access point.  My ATT modem did not like this at all ...my Asus was constantly loosing internet even thou it was hardwired via Cat7 wire to the ATT modem.

So ATT paid the money for the fastest gigabite service, but it seems like the equipment (particularly the DVR) is old technology.

Is the system response slow if the Asus router is disconnected?

I removed the ASUS router as I thought that was the cause and yes it is still slow.

So instead of a 2nd router I have a dedicated NETGEAR JGS516 ProSafe 16-Port Gigabit Ethernet Switch with a Linksys LAPAC 1750 wireless port.

To answer one of your questions, the 5268 is one of 3 current RGs capable of supporting gigabit speed tier. IMHO the least desirable. Even so I wouldn't have characterized response time as slow. Most people complement channel switching speed on Uverse TV.

If you can't clear it up with a factory reset, call it in.

Its the DVR that's the issue. Been a long time customer and have had probably a half dozen DVR's and its the same issue. Slow response, no response or one hit and it double or triple hits.. Nothing new they just choose not to address it. Or play the blame game.

The DVR has nothing to do with the performance of the lights switching or how fast can navigate through the RG screens.

I can fault the DVR for poor performance of the IR interface. Mine has a rather narrow fie!d of view angle.  But otherwise performs to my expectations.

I was commenting on 1a.

I won't comment on the other stuff except the dvr.  It really needs to be upgraded.  VIP1200 to say, a VIP2250.  The VIP1200 is really old and can't keep up with all the UI crap att has added over the years which is why it reacts so slowly.  And if I recall didn't have a very large hard drive in it either.

If you have gone through multiple 2250's with the same slowness problems then IMO something else is going on with your particular installation.  The only thing I will agree with you that's flaky is what I like to refer to as "key bounce", i.e., the same effect you can get on defective computer keyboard where you hit as key and it repeats one or more times.  I've never nailed that down (admittedly haven't tried that hard either) but I think it has something to do with the IR receiver in the 2250 being overly sensitive, some kind of reflections off the walls and furniture, the lite emitted by the tv screen, or some combination of these.  Basically I've learned to live with it.

Update/After thought:

FWIW my gateway connection to the dvr is ethernet.  I wonder if responsiveness is any slower if coax is used.  I'm inclined not to think so but I figured I would mention it anyway.

My ISB7500 does not suffer from any input lag. As I mentioned earlier, it does suffer from a narrow field of view for the IR remote.
