Tv pausing

For a few weeks now we will be watching out tv that is hooked up to DVR and it will pause out of nowhere... not lock up but bar pops up on bottom of tv like the pause button pushed.. all we have to do is push play to start it again.. anyone else had an issue like this?? It's so weird.

@Zachely - It does sound like something is generating light that appears to the DVR as a Pause click. DVRs do appear to be flakier than STBs

Obscure ( make sure no leaks) the front of the DVR to see if it stops the problem. Could be the TV or the lighting. You could request a new DVR.

This tape is effective in blocking the problem while letting the valid IR work - http://www.homedepot.com/p/Commercial-Electric-2-in-x-150-ft-Vinyl-Electrical-Bundling-Tape-Silver-30002664/202741845

However, our TV is not only 'pausing' it downright 'freezes up' on us, gives us that screen that says U-verse signal has been lost,

check other channels, check the cables, reboot your receiver, etc.  It gets so frustrating - it took us 3+ hours to watch a 2 hour movie. It also freezes up on live TV and when it finally decides to come back on we get the voices and no picture. What's up with that??????????

How is your dvr cabled to the gateway?  Coax or cat5 (ethernet)?  If coax you might try using ethernet instead.

Just double checking, this is the dvr you're talking about and not a wireless receiver?

Yes we thought about that, even that maybe our neighbors remote was doing it, but box does not face their house and we will be just sitting here, no phone or new light.. I told my husband it was a ghost, lol..
going to clean front of box and see if it helps.. thanks for the tape idea, that will definitely be next on our list to try.

@johngerry - Yours is a different problem. It is loss of signal. The first thing is the freeze is because the picture is not refreshed..

If loss of signal are the only words on the screen it is an HDMI problem blocking the signal in the DVR & the TV is displaying message. Change to component cables.

If you get the whole list possibilities the problem is the DVR or anywhere upstream. With Coax, could be anywhere in the house.

The only thing you can do is a pull the plug reboot of the RG . If that fixes it you can do it  once a month or as necessary.

If it persists, call for service. Att will find fault by testing.
