Uverse does not work for a large family

I usually don't do this but I am very frustrated....especially because I was mislead actually I was lied to by the sales rep and the install technician. When I first fell for the trap it was due to the great deal (price) that was quoted. During the phone call I asked the sales rep look I have a large family so I will need 6 receivers plus an extra for a TV room that is used periodically. I asked not once but like 10 times will their be a problem will using all the TV at once. The sales rep stated no in the past we had those problems but not anymore (LIAR). Since all of their phone calls are recorded unless I ask them not to they are aware of this conversation and what the sales rep said. I feel deceived and disrespected, I specifically asked the sales rep many many times about not wanting to encounter the problem that I am now having which is only be able to use 4 TV at a time. I have called AT&T and they have given me a credit WOW big deal it was only for $99.00 this does not help it is summer time and we have children that range from 10 years old to 18 years old. I have to tell one kid sorry you cant watch TV ....I should not be doing this especially because I was never informed this would not work for a large family. I should have been made aware from the very beginning. Now I have to wait over 30 days to go back to DISH to be considered a new customer if I don't wait I will need to pay a return fee....which I think AT&T Uverse should pay for because of there mistake.  Once I have the opportunity I will be switching to DISH because I can use more than 4 television at a time actually I watch up to 7 with no problems. I would recommend UVERSE to re-train their sales rep so they can make large families aware of the limit and the problems they can encounter.

It is possible to use up to 8 TV receivers at one time with U-verse.  However, at least two of them must be watching the exact same stream, three must be watching an already recorded program while four watch live programming.

I advise people who ask me about U-verse of this limitation.  However, sales people being what they are will tend to gloss over this limitation.  If you are in one of the blessed Austin, TX neighborhoods that get 300 Mbps service, I believe they actually get 5 streams.  There have been tests where a lucky few copper-served customers got more than 4 streams for a while, but those tests have ended and no repetition of that in sight.

Thank you for the feedback

It might be possible to watch more than 4 receivers in Austin TX but not in California. The max is 4 and yes more receivers can watch recorded movies or something else but since I always have 4 receivers on almost on a daily I don't have a chance to record anything. With dish I was able to have 7 TV on at the same time and in different channels. That is great that you inform potential clients of the limitations if I was informed of this I would have never switched. I would have stayed with Dish.....Now I am stuck because Dish wont take me back until 60 days to be considered a new customer. Which means I can sign up with great deals, but if I could afford to go back I would drop Uverse immediately.

Wrong, sir.  This is available nationwide.  I did not say you could watch 5 different live programs.  Often programs are repeated at different times of day and you can record them at off hours (in the middle of the night).  Not always, but many.

Not to throw ol' @LargeFamily under the bus but a little personal (do it yourself), basic research should be required for making a switch, this major.   Switching TV providers is right up there with changing Doctors or Auto Insurance companies.  Not as trite as changing gas stations or barbers.

It does blow that your salesperson misled you (potentially) about the service but the stream limitations within U-Verse must be fairly widely known as when I mentioned U-Verse to several coworkers and friends, more than one said "it won't work for me as I have (wait for it) 'a large family.'"

If you feel misled, lied or whatever, I would recommend that you send a private message to the escalation team at AT&T Customer Care, and someone will get in touch with you.  There is a 30 day money back guarntee.
