Uverse DVR erased my recordings

Just after watching a DVR'd show today and deleting it...while remote was sitting in my lap not even touching it - All of my DVR'd shows (probably 10) starting deleting one by one right in front of my eyes. Again I wasn't touching a thing. When I realized what was happening I quickly turned everything off and when I turned it back on everything but 1 show was gone. Contacted the chat support who couldnt help at all other than to tell me "sorry". What happened, why and how come I can't get them back?!!!

Gave up & got Bright House. There are only so many problems you can be hit with before it's time for a switch.

We are having the same issue, it's been going on for about 1.5 years, already replaced the DVR once and didn't help...a technician came about 2 months ago and told me to change all the recordings to "Keep until I erase", that didn't help either, another technicial is coming today, if the issue happens again I will switch providers....

I had 37 movies/shows recorded last night. Today I only have 3. This happpened to me once before. Nobody knew what happened and nothing was recovered. They replaced my DVR. New DVR didn't solve the problem. Obviously, AT&T doesn't care.

Unless shows are set up "All episodes until space is needed," our DVR will delete shows as they are recorded. Two shows in two different series were recording two days ago, and when I went to watch them, as soon as they were done recording, they had been deleted. Our DVR was at 50 percent. These were season premieres that were picked up from last year when I had recorded the series, but I had not changed the options and they were still set up to delete when space is needed. I never thought about changing it, because when they were originally set up to record, we weren't having this problem, as we were new customers and our DVR had tons of space. I called tech support about thr deleting problem over a month ago and was told AT&T can't delete things from our box. The tech I spoke to was clueless about the issue that I can see people have been having for years. I have also received a message while watching TV that rewind is not available We're coming to the end of our contract, and unless I get an explanation and a fix for the problem, I won't be continuing with AT&T.

Just happened to me. 5 years worth of recordings. Gone. Poof

"I'm sorry" is not enough

If everything wasn't encrypted so I could copy to my DVD recorder I would not have been as mad nor would all of these irreplaceable recordings be gone.

Thanks a lot.

We're experiencing this issue as well. We just received our second receiver two days ago. Installed it, but just experienced the same problem again. So I think we can rule out faulty DVRs. I'll play devils advocate and consider user error, but I nor any family member had the remote in thier hands. We're just enjoying some shows and the DVR is auto-erasing our recordings. HELP!

Hi @tcritch,

You may want to change your password at uverse.com as well. If someone has access to your account that way, they can delete the recordings as well. You can do so by going to att.com and hovering over myAT&T > Profile > myAT&T Login Password.

Same thing just happened to me. I woke up at 4am to watch some recordings only to find some of my recordings erased. Turned on the tv again at 11am to find my recording list went from 67 to 11 even my "keep until I erase" recordings are gone. I reset everything to make sure everything was connected and it is still happening and I always keep an eye on my recording space and I'm the only one that watches tv so I know the boxes arent all being used at the same time. And i know im not the one deleting these recordings.

ATT technician is here now to replace the DVR. He "said" [warning, do not believe this crap] "it is the hard drive getting a worn spot on the physical drive from constant erasing and recording, so I tell customers to let the box get to 94% full before erasing any shows - but then you need to start erasing so you do not have other problems."

It sounds as if a box swap is not going to fix this issue. ATT?  Where are you?

Same issue, all of my recordings are set to 'save until I erase'.  All of a sudden we look at DVR and about 100 shows are gone and we have only one recording left.  The answer is always to reboot everything which we did several times and nothing. Checked software and nothing.  No idea how or why.  Sorry, we'll replace your DVR.  Which doesn't get me back all the shows deleted. And, go to ON Demand and 80% of the shows aren't even available On Demand.  Even a silly show like Hawaii 5-0 has episodes 301-307 and then skips to 310-312.  What the h*** happened to 308 and 309?  I spend a ridiculous amount of money every month and I can't even see the shows I want to see. But I hear Comcast Infinity is just as bad.  Might have to just start paying for individual services and Netflix. Really annoyed!
