"U-verse service not available" notice comes up and can't restart

"U-verse service not available" comes on screen. then a list of things we can do to get service back.  We try the 10-second restart on the receiver, nothing, then the restart on the router by pushing the WPS button for 10 seconds, then the reset button the Wireless Access Point gizmo..nothing works. What can I do?

Quick primer on your equipment:

You have one RG (Residential Gateway, aka modem, aka Gateway).

You have ONE DVR which is a separate box from the gateway but is hardwired to the gateway and as such may be in close proximity to the gateway.  I have a VIP2250 (model # on front of box) and mine is near my RG.  Some subs have them in different locations but there is still wiring involved.

You can have multiple Set Top Boxes (STB).  Mine say "Cisco" on the front but there a different models out there.  Unless you're fiber, you are limited to 2 wireless STBs.  Are your STBs wireless (moveable) or are they hardwired back to the gateway?

Once you figure what you have and where, you might want to tag them for future reference.

Do you have internet or VOIP?  Are they working?

Are you seeing this on all receivers or only one?  Is this the DVR?

Have you rebooted the gateway itself?  Either the red Restart button on the back or pull the power cord, wait 15 secs. and return power cord.  Which gateway do you have?

Try a Whole House Reboot:

Pull power cords on all STBs and DVR

Pull power cord on RG/gateway

Wait 15 secs.

Return power cord to RG first.  Wait for all lights to become solid.

Return power cord to DVR first.  Allow it to become functional.

Return power core to STBs last.

thank you for your help. Which of the gizmos are the STBs? And the DVR is part of one of the receivers (we have 3) or part of the modem/router? AND we have internet thru another company, not AT&T. Yikes
