U-Verse signal has been lost

Re: Case ID (Edited as per community guidelines)

I am still having issue losing HDMI connectivity on VIP2500 receiver. If I can't get this resolved I will have to consider a new cable provider. I am have tried the cheapest to the most expensive HDMI cables. I've even tried using a different HDMI port on the TV. The thing is, the Roku which is connected to HDMI port not used by the TV never loses the connection so I know it's not the TV it's obviously the wireless receiver HDMI port that is the problem.

How close is your receiver to your WAP?

Can it be moved closer? Ideally, all your green signal indicators on the front of the wireless receiver should be lit up.

Why do you think HDMI is the problem?  How many bars of signal strength do you see on the front panel of the settop box?   As @baseballisback is suggesting, wireless has a limited range where it functions reliably.

I think it is HDMI output port precisely because I have all bats on the receiver and the green and blue lights are lit. The problem appears to be the signal to the TV. As I said I've numerous types and cost of HDMI cables and when I switch HDMI inputs on TV between roku and wireless receiver the roku works fine never dropping the signal.

I didn't think I included personal information but thanks for scrubbing it if I did.

If you see a U-verse message stating signal has been lost, then the settop box is talking to the TV just fine.  It’s possible all bars are green, link light is green, and still have a lost signal.   Try rebooting all your equipment if you haven’t already done so. Power up gateway first, then WAP, anc finally the settop boxes.

I just had a message about HDMI with three steps to try.

Resetting my receiver (unplug for 30 seconds) did the trick. I'm assuming you did this, even though you didn't say.

@gr8sho and @baseballisback, Yes I've  done all that you both have suggested, several times in fact. I just think the wireless set-top boxes used by AT&T have bad HDMI circuitry! But hey, I'm just an average consumer. I understand how to hook things up and the basic concepts but I'm by no means a TV technology, wireless signal, or connectivity geek (I use the term geek with respect). I rely on the so called professional technician to know how to transfer what I can tell them into information they need to diagnose and repair the system. However, I'm finding the average technician sent to my home has little more knowledge outside of enough training to run a wire and replace components, (i.e. WAP, SET-TOP BOX, RG) to diagnose a problem and affect a solution.

Kind Regards

You are overthinking this issue.  There’s no problem with the HDMI circuitry and you’re barking up the wrong tree.  What distance does the signal have to travel from the WAP to the settop box?   Can you shorten the distance to make the link more stable?   Also there should be 3 ft separation between the gateway and the WAP boxes.

How about just asking for a replacement stb? Have you tried it on a different tv to rule out a problem with the tv?
