Uverse wireless receiver freezes when ethernet is plugged in

I have a Samsung TV in my bedroom capable of wired connection for internet.  It was working before when it was wired directly to my Uverse receiver.  I recently had problems with my router and that had me call for a service technician.  The earliest dispatch for a tech was 3 days.  My bedroom TV would no longer establish a good wired connection that resulted for having it replaced with a wireless receiver.  All is well, TV is now receiving Uverse signal except that when I plug in the ethernet cable to the back of the wireless receiver then to the back of my TV, the reception freezes.  The only way I could get Uverse signal back to its normal state is to unplug the ethernet cable which leaves my TV with no internet access.

Please advise

You need to connect the tv's ethernet connection to the gateway (router/modem), i.e., one of the gateway's yellow ethernet ports.  You do not connect it to the wireless receiver.  The receiver connects to your tv (usually via hdmi) and communicates wirelessly with the WAP (little box ethernet connected also to the back of your gateway).  There is no direct internet connection through the wireless receivers.

The only ethernet port I know of on the receivers and dvr is the Network port and that's to connect the dvr/receiver to the gateway for a wired connection.  I may be having a "senior moment" (getting old) but just how did what you describe here ever work?

My TV had internet access when it was connected to a wired Uverse receiver.  The trouble with your suggestion to have it connected directly to my router is that my TV is on the second floor while my router sits on the ground floor in my family room.

It's not a suggestion.  I am only telling you why you cannot connect your internet connection to an att wireless receiver.

And I still don't understand what model att receiver or dvr let you have a internet device connected to it.
