what does this error message mean?

I'm trying to troubleshoot playback issues from my dvr (I'm pretty sure I need a new one), and got this message.

"Sorry, but we see that you don’t have a receiver that supports DVR functionality".  I have a VIP 2250 and two other receivers that chronically cant' playback recordings.  What does that message mean I should do next?  Thank you!
