What is a code 3X

When booting a VIP1200 for the first time I’m receiving an blue 3X code   It is wired with cat5 with a crossover connection is this correct or should it be wired straight through? I’ve tried both without any luck

Should just be a garden variety pin-to-pin cat 5 cable.  Where are you seeing a blue 3X?  That ethernet cable should be plugged into the network port on the dvr and connected to one of the yellow gateway ethernet sockets.

It’s connected through a hub, pin to pin I was not receiving any video. With the crossover the receiver is trying to boot up that’s when I’m receiving a blue X3 code on the TV thanks

Direct connect the ethernet cable from the gateway to the dvr and see what happens then,  Don't go through anything!

Had you said the screen was displaying a red X followed by a 3 I might understand what might be happening but blue?  Never heard of any of the dvr errors colored blue nor with the error code before the X.  Are you sure your tv is even taking input from the dvr (check its input setting)?  Maybe that's a error your tv is reporting?

What kind of a "hub" are you talking about?  A gigabit ethernet switch?  A centralized area to allow various interconnects?

Also curious why this is coming up now.  Is this an old installation that previously worked and you changed something?  Did you acquire that VIP1200 from a third party (which might explain everything)?  I ask because I believe att is not even installing vip1200's anymore.
