Wireless DVR rebooting itself every night at EXACTLY the same time!

95% of the time.....my WIRELESS DVR will reboot itself at 1:00am (actually 1:01am according to Alexa).  WHY?  I've had techs come out for the past 7-8 YEARS and they cannot figure it out.  I would say that about 40% of that 95% I have to physically go into the living room and reboot the ACCESS POINT.  Oh....did I say I'm a disabled senior?  This is not the easiest thing to do - for me......besides it being irritating as h3ll.  They have replaced all equipment MULTIPLE times.  The wired DVR was just replaced this year.  I just got a MODEM, WIRELESS DVR, & and ACCESS POINT in boxes on my table that I have to install and send back the ones I have now.  They have even sent Senior Techs out here and they can't figure it out.  They have "dug the ditch" in out yard - under the back fence - to connect to the new FIBER cable they are installing.  I was told I have one of the "connection points" in our yard and the other one will probably go in one of our neighbors.  Then I will call for installation.  They started installing FIBER in early April (actually, I think we saw the trucks and the flags on April 1st because we made a joke about it).  Until I called and raised all kinds of h3ll - I was getting inundated with SET UP INSTALLATION OF YOUR FIBER.............emails - like daily...................texts - several weekly......when I would call C/S - CONGRATULATIONS!  We now have FIBER in your area.  Call for installation!..........I even had techs tell me that yes, we had FIBER here.....then about once a week - there would be a flyer taped to our door.......CONGRATULATIONS.....etc etc etc.  It was driving me up the wall.  LIARS!!!!  AT&T is nothing but LIARS!  They can't fixed my equipment from rebooting.  They no longer offer NEW equipment - it is all rebuilt.  I'm paying almost $275.00/month for UVerse-450, telephone, Internet 75 (highest we can get and there are 3 of us with 3 PCs, 4 phones, 2 Alexas, RING, 2 laptops, 4 smartTVs, etc).  My son is a restaurant manager and does some of his work from home so he isn't there 20 hours a day.  Most times we do a speed test.....it is around 50-60 download.  I'm scolded when I complain about our speed.  Well, geez....since we moved here 10 years ago....times have changed.  There wasn't RING, ALEXA, SMART TVs, etc.  We were fine at 50 and a couple of years later at 75 (which most people in our are can't get - they are topped out at 50 still).    ******so here's my questions to all you techies out there.....WHY?  Why does my wireless DVR reboot itself every night at 1:01am???? ***** ideas?   (See the pic below.....look down at the Alexa and you can see it says 1:01am)

I'm not sure anyone here can explain the rebooting but for clarity, you have ONE DVR and it is wired directly to your gateway.

All WIRELESS boxes are Set Top Boxes (STBs), not DVRs.

You say you reboot the Access Point.  Are you also rebooting the wired DVR since it sends the signal to the STBs?

No, I only reboot what's needs to be.  The wireless does it by itself.  Sometimes it just needs me to say RESUME after about 5-7 minutes.  Other times it says it must be RESTARTED.  Sometimes that's it for the night.  Other times.....the same thing will happen again and when it does it will immediately happen again - which is when I have to go and reboot the Access Point.  I DO NOT reboot the WIRED DVR unless it's absolutely necessary because 9 times out of 10 - I have it recording a program.  When I reboot the Access Point it just shakes hands with the WIRED and the WIRELESS.

I had this exact problem a few years ago.  It was caused by some bad software updates at&t did.  There are a couple of work arounds that might helped/finally solved my problem.

What model wireless receiver(s) do you have? what model access point? While technically all gen 2 boxes should be compatible with all gen 2 receivers... that's not neccesarily the case

#1 the wireless receivers used to be far more tolerant of lower signals.  When I first got my 2 wireless receivers they would work perfectly even if they only show 2 out of 5 bars of signal on the receivers.  Now in the current system if you go under 4-5 bars you risk having weird glitches and issues.  The only way to solve this is to physically move the access point closer to the wireless receiver...which is easier said than done since it still needs to connect via ethernet cord that you'll have to run across the room to the main gateway, and you need power where the access point is (mine ended up ridiculously high on a living room shelf with ugly extension cords and a long ethernet wire to get it close enough to work.

#2 depending on model #'s trying different combinations of equipment until you find a combo that actually works.  its simpler if you only have 1 wireless receiver or can get them to give you the same model for both receivers.

#3 if all else fails the last jerry rigged solution is to install a smart wifi electrical outlet for the access point to plug into and set it to turn off and on for 1 minute once every 24 hours in  the middle of the night and hope nobody is watching tv at the time.
