Wireless Receivers constantly loose signal.

My 2 wireless receivers (cisco) have suddenly started loosing signal.  It is in and out, sometimes audio only. I have restarted them several times it is not helping.  I had all of this equipment installed only 4 months ago. Please help, I'm frustrated and beginning to regret changing services.

How many signal strength bars do you see on the front of the wireless receivers?  3 is marginal, 4-5 best.  You may have to move the WAP (little box ethernet connected to the gateway - used to communicate with the wireless receivers) to get a better signal.  Use a longer ethernet cable if necessary to give you more freedom to move the WAP around.  Signal strength is dependent on the distance from the WAP and the kinds of materials the signal needs to pass through.

Not sure why it only just started happening.  Maybe something got moved into the signal paths enough to affect the signal strength?  Or possibly some kind of signal interference that wasn't there before.  You might have to call tech support (800-288-2020) for additional help.

It appears that our Christmas tree has caused the problem, which is ridiculous. Is there anything that I can buy and install myself to make the signal stronger? I am very disappointed in this equipment. It took two different installers to come out just to get it working in a two year old house. I have seven receivers, 2 which are wireless. The former owner had direct TV and stated he had no issues. I was a direct tv customer for 10+ years and was tired of the signal going out every time it rains. Well this isn't much better and the wireless speed is not as good as described. Good advice please.

It's in the line of sight between the WAP and the receivers?   Lot's of metal in it??

No.  As I said you might try moving the WAP to some other location.

I have seven receivers, 2 which are wireless.

Wait, what?  How can you get 7 tv's connected to the gateway with only 4 ethernet ports on the gateway?  Or to put it another way, since the WAP accounts for 2 of the tv's, how do you get 5 tv's connected to the gateway with only 3 free ethernet ports?  Are you connected up using HPNA coax wiring, i.e., all coax?

Well this isn't much better and the wireless speed is not as good as described.

You're changing (or adding to) the original problem, i.e., your tv problems.  But I'll say if you have enough of these tv's (and possibly dvr also recording) sucking up your available bandwidth (you never did say what internet speed tier you have) I wouldn't be surprised at what's left over for your internet connection(s).

Please call me. I have done everything legal. Everything was installed by ATT installers. It was a nightmare getting started but finally was working until we put some packages around the tree. I got a long cord and hung on the tree when my wife was out shopping and it's now working. My wife is home now and not happy!! This is not a fix. I pay on time and I just want it to work!

Call you? Man Surprised  This is a public forum made up of mostly paying customers just like you.  I'm just a paying customer like you.  I didn't say you did anything "illegal".  I just don't understand that installation you got and was curious.

Sorry I couldn't be more help.
