Wireless STB Auto Sleep
Is there a way to override the auto sleep
of the wireless set top box after being inactive for 3 or four hours?

No way to over-ride. It should be about eight hours.
Try to find an IR generator with a chron so you can schedule an activity every x hours.

What is an IR Generator with a chron? I just want to leave my TV on for my dog (for the sound) when i am gone during the day. I think the TV goes to sleep before lunch time.
Also, could the sleep mode be the reason a show will stop recording in the middle if i have the TV on but I am not home to keep the TV from going to sleep?

No, the STB going to sleep should not cause a loss of recording, especially if it not the DVR itself. The recording process is in only one box & seperate from the viewing side of that box.
recordings are not made if there is no signal, no power, failure to communicate with att, bad scheduling at att server.
I will say that there is one pposter that insists recordings are being lost due to going to sleep.
It does sound like yours is going to sleep early. Most take about eight hours.
A chron is a software timer & an IR generator is a remote cotrol - A device that cn be programmed to transmit the IR for the OK button, say every hour. I guess you could build on by ripping appart a u-verse remote & wiring the contacts of the OK button to a low voltage output of a timer that generates a momentary contact.

anybody want to build a IR device that will accomplish this. I'm too old to be taking things apart.. lol usually cant see the little parts clear enough to put it back together. Anyway if anyone wants to build it, I'll buy one. I just want my Stingray music to stay on 24 hours a day, but it seems ATT disagrees...
