X and 5 then just the 3 dots

We came back from vacation to find our Uverse had an X and 5 on the screen.  We followed the instructions to reboot.  We got the screen with the 3 dots that normally cycle through highlighting the dots.  The dots are just static, though, and it never moves off this screen.  We've followed all the troubleshooting info on the website and nothing has worked.  We tried calling the helpline but we get hung up on after the recording saying we'll be connected to an agent, so I assume they're closed (it's happened 5 times at the same point in the recording each time).  How do we fix this?

Red X #5 Unpacking client. Client does not resolve on the box. Most likely not a multiple-box issue.

 

Weird one! Did you also reboot the gateway (pull plug for 15 secs. and let it fully reboot) before trying the dvr troubleshooting steps (I assume you used the steps described here)?

Hi!  Yes, that was one of the things we did.  My husband found something online saying to try some combo of the power button, circle button, and plugging it in which seems to have worked.  All of our recordings are deleted, though 😞

That's disaster recovery mentioned as the last step in the troubleshooting steps I referred to above.  So yes, you loose all your recordings but you don't lose you program recording scheduling.  Glad it worked for you.
