Interesting. When I check my Directv Stream account on line, it says HBO Max and live channels are "included in base package" which is Ultimate. I also receive HBO via the AT&T Elite wireless plan. The HBO Max app works fine, but the live channels do not show up in the guide.
@JAL123 My online account also says "included in base package" I noticed it a few weeks ago. I have the Ultimate package and it's not included in Ultimate--just premier. So I contacted Dtv Stream twitter support and asked why it says that on my account. Still no answer. They keep telling me they are investigating it. I contacted them b/c in the future if I ever want to add HBO via the website--I can't do it. I don't have any other ATT plans like you do. But I do know twitter support told me if another ATT account gives you HBO max free--you don't also get the channels on Dtv Stream.

This is true. I have U-Verse and don't get HBO via that method. I do, however, have AT&T Internet 1000. I had to link my HBO Max account to my AT&T account and then that got me access.
Because my HBO Max email address is a Gmail account, I'd imagine that I could potentially cancel AT&T internet and keep my HBO Max account, but I'm not positive.
An interesting side story: Maybe about two years ago (after I had HBO Max for a while), I upgraded to a free trial of HBO/Cinemax via U-Verse. After the free trial ended, I attempted to downgrade. For reasons unknown, after the downgrade went through, I still got HBO/Cinemax on my TV channels. One day, many months later, those channels turned off. After numerous calls to AT&T, someone with the Office of the President was able to ascertain that my experience was a glitch that eventually rectified itself.
This employee confirmed that people who get HBO Max included with something like their mobile phone or internet (aka through a "back door") do not qualify for HBO via their TV provider, even if that TV provider is AT&T-owned.
It is weird they'd add additional channels of HBO and Cinemax.
If you pay for a TV plan that includes HBO, you get HBO Max.
If you just pay for Cinemax, why? Everything I've seen suggests that it's about the same price to upgrade to HBO Max (and get HBO & Cinemax TV channels.)
If you pay for Starz, you get the Starz app.
I can certainly understand the main channel, the kids/family channel and the Latino version...plus the west coast feeds.
In a world of apps, other channels just seem redundant. Maybe if your internet is terribly slow? But you have DirecTV Stream, so you're probably pulling at least 25Mbps down which should be enough for the app.

Those premiums have been offered for a while, nothing new. Why do you think they were just added?

I see some @detuch254 like HBO Comedy, HBO Signature, and HBO Zone - I'm on Premier package and indeed, these were not there before. Cinemax is still the same. The comment from the OP might be coming from here https://www.reddit.com/r/DirectvStream/comments/wp4e5t/looks_like_we_finally_got_all_the_hbo_channels/

@GTyz
Interesting. I stand corrected. Thanks for clearing that up.
