Auto Extend not working lately on NCAA Football.

The games SAY they're going to AutoExtend in the "More Info" screen for the recording, but it's not happening.  These are major network broadcasts of major college football games, it's been working fine for years now, until this past week or so.

I had same issue.  Univ of Minnesota vs Rutgers football game on 11/9.  Same thing yesterday (11/17) with Minnesota Vikings vs Tennessee and also with Chicago Bears vs Green Bay.

This has happened on every game this past weekend, and some if not all the weekend before that, I didn't pay much attention to it until it happened more than a couple of times.

Auto extend failed on every game of the Baseball playoffs and World Series that went over 3 hours. Completely and utterly frustrating!

It also failed Sunday, 11/17 on the 49er/Seahawks game.

I seem to recall it also happened on Sharks NHL game, but I don't remember which one.

Note that ALL these games were flagged as Auto extend and were on different channels and networks, yet none extended so I do not believe this is caused by a/the network.

Bottom line: as near as I can tell, in the 6 months I've had DirectTV, it has never worked. Note that I cannot remember a single instance where it didn't work with my previous provider.

Part of the frustration is that there is no way for the user to know the feature isn't working until the allotted time window expires and you're suddenly watching CSPAN instead of the last 1:58 of the 49er game.

Posts on this problem go back years but it never seems to get fixed.

Auto extend didn’t work tonight 3/23/25 nhl Los Angeles king game in fanduel. It hasn’t been working for the past three weeks. Something had to change in your end please fix this

Never trust Auto Extend. Always record the show after your desired game to ensure you capture the whole game.

He means that DIRECTV doesn't have anyone watching every single game to see if it runs long or not.  They're dependent on the provider of the game feed telling them that the program length needs to change.  Sometimes that happens, sometimes it doesn't.  As litzdog says, best to record the next show, just to be sure.
