Channel 104 in 4K now available for Apple TV 4K after update!
It's finally here! I checked the App Store this morning on my Apple TV 4K and it explicitly mentioned the 4K channel available. It looks fantastic, too! Just waiting for channel 105 and 106 now for sports.

I’ve actually watched a movie, 2001: A Space Odyssey, It was very good. I was getting a lot of Dodgers in 4K on the guide, then on game day disappear. Haven’t seen any for a couple of weeks. I read, now I can’t find it, by the end of July we would see 105/106..Fingers crossed !!

I have one of the newer ATV 4k's. Did you have to reload the DTV app to get it to respond and put 104 in the channel guide ?

@Glenee Just went to the App Store on the Apple TV and searched for "DirecTV" and then it say "Update" on it instead of "Open." Once I updated it, the channel was there. The 4K news is always in the update notes.

dj4uofa.
I just did the update and it is there now. The tip about the update instead, of deleting and reloading worked great and will be my go to.
When I first tried to view it, it said something about your equipment is capable of 4K but you must change settings. I run my latest edition Apple 4k in 4k SDR and match frame rate on/on. I was able to get the picture when I changed the setting to 4k HDR 60. So hdr must be ON. Samsung uses HDR10 which is a accepted HDR format. The problem I have is when I turn on HDR all the rest of my channels have colorspace, black level, and some color off pictures, it looks ok but not as clean as in 4Ksdr, if that makes sense. As a general during these growing pains I use what works best as a whole.
I do hope Directv does fix the having to have HDR on to view, at least until the industry gets more standard on HDR.
Thanks for your help worked like a charm.

I have new LG OLED 55” C2AUA using a 3rd gen of AppleTV+ as streaming unit for Directv Streaming. Going through the large channel selection on my subscription with ATT, I found the 4K service, 104 and began watch a very exciting rendering of the tropical sea life. As I continued watching with excellent picture and sound from my Yamaha surround system, the reception began having split second skips with bright white line flashes and skips in the audio. I then brought up other video/audio formats on the Apple TV settings. No matter what format I used, there was no correction. Upon speaking with Directv tech support, I was told the problem was with the Apple TV+and nothing in the Directv. It is really unusual that when I read other posts, there is no problem with using the Apple TV+ as a stream system. Welcome rebuttals and comments!
