No one here would have any idea. This is just an open community forum of subscribers and user. No one here has any inside info on network plans.

Here’s a response – but you won’t like it.

You won’t get a “official” response, because the only people that might know anything are highers up at DIRECTV and they’re not going to say (and might even not know themselves).

The reason they may not know is that it’s not entirely up to them. DIRECTV can’t just carry a station – they need carriage agreements with both the network and the station itself.  Both have been demanding increasingly large fees to allow carriage - this may be because advertising revenue is down and they want to make it up somehow. Some of the demands are so large - for stations that you get for free if you use an antenna – that the carriers (cable, satellite, and streaming Services) say no.

The CW is a particular case. They are controlled and majority owned by Nexstar Media, which is also the largest owner of TV stations in the country.  They have been using that position as leverage to get larger and larger carriage fees, and blackout their stations if they can’t get an agreement with their demanded fee. They have also had legal disputes with DIRECTV in recent years and have at times cut off The CW and/or individual stations to try to get their way. For carriers to just give in leads to ever increasing monthly charges to the subscribers, even those that don’t get Nexstar-owned stations.

Bottom line – no one who could say here knows if or when you will ever get your local CW station and the people who have the most information will not publicly disclose it.
