To be clear, DirecTV didn't used to be Primestar. They both existed at the same time and then DirecTV acquired Primestar.
As expected streaming services are starting to catch up in their costs to traditional TV providers. The only ones not ramping up as much are those that have their exclusive in-house content, but they you get several of those and you're up there in cost anyway to cover all you want.
DirecTV historically has only had at most a annual price adjustment. Having the satellite service adjust cost now is outside of that and hopefully not a new norm. Networks keep increasing their costs to TV providers which naturally means our bills go up as well to keep up.

My bill with Mediacom went up every year by 20 bucks. To the point I was going to have to pay around 260. That's why I decided to switch to Dtv Stream
