How to Stay logged in on a TV (Samsung)

I'm new to Direct TV stream and have to log in each time to the app on my Samsung TV which is a pain.  Does anyone know how to stay logged in to the app on the TV?

Thanks,

Frank

What kind of troubleshooting steps have you done? Deleted and reinstall of the app? Did a factory reset on the device?

Direct Stream is junk. I am calling today to get rid of it. Originally I got the box, but the remote had to be reprogrammed every single time we used it. Then you would have to login again. I started using my AppleTV app instead because it did not make me login every single time I went to the app. Until about two weeks ago. Now direct stream has done something to make you login every single time. Don’t listen to their lies and ways to try to help you. They changed some thing and are doing this on purpose because they don’t want you to steal your content. What’s crap as I have it on three different TVs in my household and ALL THREE require a log in literally every time I use it, and they just knocked the price up. I do not have this issue with any other streaming service!  I’m not paying for something that I can never use because I’m the only person in a family of two adults and five children that knows the password. And I don’t have time to type it in every day. This has been a horrible experience! I would never ever ever recommend direct stream to anyone.  Try Hulu or YouTube or some other better online tv service.

@xyconner9 find it curious u just signed up for this forum. If you had all these issues why haven't we seen you in here before? Fake account/post. Probably one of the OAN cult members.

Come on Chas - not called for.  I see you have now gone back to your original ID. Guess that's the obnoxious ID.

Wow, for someone who just signed up you don’t exactly encourage free speech or anyone else’s opinion  @Ludwick577 is a (Edited per community guidelines). I just signed up today because I just now got around to dealing with it. I am a mother of three children and an executive at a healthcare company. I don’t have time to talk on forums. Instead I called Direct Stream & canceled my service today.  Unlike you I don’t spend my days (Edited per community guidelines)ing through online forums.

Gee Chas just stop it and offer beneficial input to issues in the forum. Enough.

I have the same issue on Samsung smart tvs only.  Numerous calls to Directv Stream has been useless.  They claim they never heard of this problem.  I’m ready to switch to Hulu or something.

Hold the power button until the TV turns off and then powers back up.   It will relaunch the direct tv and avoid entering the password

I am having the same problem with Direct TV Stream. I use Apple TV boxes on all 4 of my TV's.  I have to login  and RESET my password just about every time on every TV. The problem seems to just keep getting worse. It is so frustrating to have to go to my laptop or ipad logging into att.com and change my password. Then do it all over again for the next TV or the next day for the same TV

I think you actually have a different issue and is being talked about on another forum.  What domain is your email on?  AT&T seems to have some issues with their emails and supposedly do to stop hackers.  Once I moved my Direct TV stream account to a different email account, we are good.  Link to the other forum.  https://forums.att.com/conversations/att-mail-login-security/the-dreaded-205-error-code-information-from-the-att-community/62d03b9ae929921253c7ea10?commentId=636e8054a912136c4eff3ff0

We use a Firestick and it’s been great for the last 2 years but recently it has started making us change our password and log back in almost every time. So frustrating. Called customer service and they said “yeah, we know. It is what it is” So they know the issue but really don’t know how to fix it.

This not a DirectTV Stream issue...it is and ATT issue.  I assume you have an ATT domain account?  If that is correct, there is a very long topic on their forum about this.  I actually called in and changed my account email to a gmail account and no issue.  They basically cancel your current account and create a new one.

I am also using direct TV stream on Samsung TVs. Not every time but often enough to be an issue I am kicked out of Direct TV and have to log back on. Sometimes happens while watching it. Not an issue with other apps like HULU. Any updates on this?

@dianeny2nc Unfortunately, the Directv Stream App for Samsung is horrible and has a lot of issues(bugs in it) that neither Directv nor Samsung have yet to correct and this has been an issue for a long time.  Your best bet would be to get an external device to watch your Directv Stream on such as a Roku, Firestick, or Directv Streaming Box.  As you would have a lot fewer issues than viewing on your Samsung TV app. I know this was not the update you were hoping for.

I am just curious. Have all of you that have been having trouble on your Samsung TV app for DTV Stream opened a Samsung Account thru the TV ? I am sure that you most likely have a Samsung account, but if you don't you need to set up one so that Samsung will talk to the Apps and verify your passwords and such so you can use your apps smoothly. Very much like a Roku, Apple TV, Firestick and so on.

The Samsung account set up on your Samsung TV will definitley help with what you are describing.
