local channels switching on Streaming Devices -
I have two Streaming Devices. First one arrived and within minutes I set it up in North Carolina and it was fine. Second one I took to another house I own in Virginia the next day and set it up and it was just fine, but one difference was the local stations were the Virginia stations, not my home North Carolina stations, which was a good surprise because I was thinking I'd have the Home billing address stations. Anyway, I set it all up and set it to record what I wanted, etc. Next morning the Virginia Streaming Device now won't display the local Virginia stations on the guide and says this content cannot be streamed or something like that and my recordings did not happen. The recordings list I do see is odd, scrambled and mixed up showing my North Carolina station recordings. I power the device off and on and then I see the North Carolina version of guide and stations and it works but is operating like it would do if I set it up in North Carolina. I return home to North Carolina and my Home Streaming Device is now just bonkers, not working at all. Call to DirectTV Stream and they can't fix, say they have to replace the Streaming Device. Surely this cannot be normal.
Is it possible the issues are interconnected or is the first Streaming Device just bad after one day, like they say? What should I expect if I have two Streaming Devices in two states? Surely this is allowed. Are there settings I need to apply to allow them to work properly?

Sometimes it takes a while for the system to get synced. Personnally I have never transported the box to another location. I suspect the box since you configured it in VA picked up the location zip code there. The boxes were never designed for multiple locations. Since your home base is NC that is why you get the NC stations. You may need to disable location services also. Really not sure about the box configuration when travelling. I always use Roku's or Fire Sticks travelling. Honestly there has been so many changes in the years there is no true definition anymore on using locals.

Are you referring to the DirecTV Stream service or the satellite DirecTV service? DirecTV Stream uses the cloud for DVR and does not support local DVR's.

I have edited the post to be more accurate. It is a Streaming Device. I have the Streaming service.

Which location is your "home network" location? Typically you can only have one "home network". The DirecTV Stream box is getting confused when moved to the "remote" location.

Correct - now we are talking right. Local programming is based on your billing zip code. The device thinks you are not at your home base for locals. Support article located here

I'm puzzled. You stated you're moving the "streaming device".

I didn't say I moved it. My post says I have two streaming devices. One in North Carolina (Home). One for setup in Virginia. Set up the NC one and it was fine. Turned off NC one and traveled to Va. Set up the second one in Va. It got Va stations, even though I live in NC and have a device there. Then next morning the Va device refused to display Va stations and started showing NC stations, but otherwise worked.
I have not moved anything other than to originally transport one to Va still unboxed, brand new.

Have you verified the zip code defined to the box under settings? Is it setup for your NC or VA location?
For DirecTV Satellite, call 1-800-531-5000.
For DirecTV Stream, call 1-888-429-4023.

Your boxes should be providing local stations based on your billing zip code.

I do not have the Va device with me. It is in Va so I'll have to check when I am there. My NC one has my NC zip in the system settings when I look at them. I don't believe I entered any location data for either box, it was detected by the system, so it should be detecting what it is. What I don't get is why the Va one flipped from Va stations to NC stations overnight. I didn't touch it other than to turn it off and on again in the morning.

It's based on your account billing zip code, not the device's location.

So it initially setup incorrectly and corrected itself overnight? I should expect to always get "home" stations based on my billing zip regardless where I might take a device? I was so happy initially that it got local stations, because I expected it would get my home zip stations regardless.
