local channels switching on Streaming Devices -

I have two Streaming Devices.  First one arrived and within minutes I set it up in North Carolina and it was fine.  Second one I took to another house I own in Virginia the next day and set it up and it was just fine, but one difference was the local stations were the Virginia stations, not my home North Carolina stations, which was a good surprise because I was thinking I'd have the Home billing address stations.  Anyway, I set it all up and set it to record what I wanted, etc.  Next morning the Virginia Streaming Device now won't display the local Virginia stations on the guide and says this content cannot be streamed or something like that and my recordings did not happen.  The recordings list I do see is odd, scrambled and mixed up showing my North Carolina station recordings.  I power the device off and on and then I see the North Carolina version of guide and stations and it works but is operating like it would do if I set it up in North Carolina.  I return home to North Carolina and my Home Streaming Device is now just bonkers, not working at all.  Call to DirectTV Stream and they can't fix, say they have to replace the Streaming Device.  Surely this cannot be normal.

Is it possible the issues are interconnected or is the first Streaming Device just bad after one day, like they say?  What should I expect if I have two Streaming Devices in two states?  Surely this is allowed.  Are there settings I need to apply to allow them to work properly?

That my NC (home) device later "failed" seems isolated in this case.  A new one is on the way.

I specifically explained my situation, that I had two places I commuted between in different states, to the Directv person I talked to and was assured it would work.  That's the whole reason I am got this service, because it was transportable.  I got the devices because they gave me the features on recording and playback that I wanted.

Well, they were correct. It should work. But they probably didn't understand the issues with which local stations you would get between the two locations.
