MAX ‘Can’t Verify Subscription’
In the middle of watching a show on Max, the app shut down and asked me to log in. When I attempted to do so using my DIRECTV Stream account, I received the message indicating Max could not verify my subscription.
— I have had Max as a part of my DIRECTV stream subscription for over 5 years without any issue.
— I’ve just re-verified that Max is still a part of my DIRECTV stream package
— I am connected to Wi-Fi and I am able to view other DIRECTV Stream subscriptions.
— I have closed and reopened the app multiple times.
Please advise.

Update: After having this problem for several days, today I tried to login to Max and when I went through the provider (I used "DirecTV"), this time it said that it linked to my AT&T account and it needed me to setup a MAX login/PW. When I attempted to do this (using my same email that I use for my AT&T account), it came back and said that my email was already attached to an existing Max account and that a confirmation code would be sent to that same email. After I input the code from my email, I was *finally* able to get back into Max.
So, I do think they updated something in their system to address the issue.

Looks like they finally updated as now I’m able to log into Max app. Had to change DIRECTV Stream pw. Changing pw yesterday didn’t work.

Well, I’m finally logged into Max and watching programs. I decided not to choose the providers they showed with a tap to the screen, in this case DirecTV. I searched for DirecTV in the box below the listed providers and chose DirecTV from the drop-down list. I was presented with the following:
I entered my email address and provided a different password since I didn’t want it to be the same as my AT&T nor DirecTV account,I tapped the white “Create Account” button (kinda hidden in the screencap), I was presented with the following (I blacked out the signin)
I’m guessing it pulled the information from my DirecTV account that AT&T is the provider. I didn’t choose AT&T because I kept getting “cannot verify subscription, plus I had always used my DirecTV credentials. I don’t think my AT&T credentials ever worked while logging into Max (rather HBO Max) since that was the branding when we initially got internet through AT&T.
I hope this helps anyone still having issues.

That worked! After I created a login to max with same email as directv but different password on my mobile it said I was all set and my TV should refresh. But my TV said Error. I had to get all the way out and relaunch Max on my tv. Again i scanned the qr code with my mobile and this time just selected login to max. I entered my credentials and it worked. But all my lists and keep watching are gone. I hope I don't start getting charged for Max now. I've had it free for 7 years.

Do you have a smart tv? I was wondering because I’m just using a Roku device hooked up to my tv, and when I went to the Max app, it displayed the I had to open a browser and go to max.com/providers to put the code that was on the screen in the browser window. It went on without a hitch.
Yeah, I think I remember that I had a couple of movies that I was watching before the verification issue started, but they weren’t there when I started streaming. I didn’t have any lists previously so I didn’t have to add things.
Are you worried that you don’t have to pay for it because you signed in because you selected login to Max on your tv or that your previous lists and keep watching weren’t there?

I posted 4 days ago that I was finally able to access Max on my TV. But I just tried on my iPad and it won't allow me in. I tried my cell and it does work. I tried both my husband's ipad and cell, and can't get in on either one of those. For the devices that don't work, I try to connect your provider using both directvstream and at&t. After I login to at&t it just comes back and asks my to connect provider.
I can go to max.com and enter Max credentials and get in.
So sick of DirectVstream. Thinking seriously of changing providers.

I was just on with support. She insisted that I change my directv password AGAIN and try. Of course, it didn't work amd I could no longer get in on my tv! Meanwhile, while I was changing my password she disconnected the chat. I managed to get back in on the TV but still not my other devices. I got back on support chat and was told the team was fixing one by one. Whatever that means. She said they are still working on the issue and no eta. I told her some communication from directv would be appreciated, and that I was tired of support having me try the same things over and over and over again.

I just fixed my issue. I'm not sure if it will last but maybe this will help someone else. I think the issue stemmed from my account being bundled with ATT. I had to log in to my DirectTV account, go to overview, and then select my account - which sent me over to the ATT side. Once there, I had to click on add another account in the My Linked Accounts Section of the profile page. You can also find a link accounts hyperlink on the main screen. After you press it and are redirected, at the bottom, there was a link for "DIRECTV account? Sign up at directv.com to get started." I clicked it and had to enter my DirectTV account info - NOTE*** Your DirecTV account number is different than the ATT account number (took me a few to figure this out). I had to look at my bill to find the DirectTV account number. Once I did that, I was able to create a new DirectTV account, and input a password. Once I did that, I was able to use that new account and password to verify with the MAX app. Who knows if the fix will last, but hopefully others can benefit from this info. :)

These linked accounts and share of credentials across services have been the main culprit for most of these login issues. This has been going on for several years.
For DirecTV Satellite, call 1-800-531-5000.
For DirecTV Stream, call 1-888-429-4023.

Having the same problem. Can still stream max on the vizio in the bedroom but not the living room. Opened a chat with directv and stayed online for 20 minutes while they "worked to fix the issue" and then was told I don't pay for HBO. I reminded the rep that streaming max is free and that I was actively streaming on other devices. She repeatedly told me I could add HBO to my channel lineup. Still unresolved.

Get reimbursed for the months you’re not able to log onto the Max app. Max is doing what Paramount Plus is doing on DIRECTV - the channel gives you limited access to its lineup and is making you buy the app to get the shows and movies! (ex: Bookie and Joker 2). I will be getting rid of the Max channel @ $16.00 and sign up for Max app - I already have the Paramount plus app and will be getting rid of the DIRECTV channel. I also have Showtime on the Paramount +app - that’s going to be taken off DIRECTV too. The issue is between Max and DIRECTV not a technical problem- Max is NOT letting DIRECTV subscribers log onto its app ! Get reimbursed ASAP from DIRECTV! They know and are not telling you - I told the superthis today and he agreed that that is what’s going on here.
