Pause, rewind, forward live tv

I just got the Directv Stream service. Have tried it out on my firestick app and my samsung tv app. I can't seem to figure out how to rewind and forward live tv. I can pause live tv but nothing else.

Also, with cable I get my local forecast on the Weather Channel. But on the DtvStream weather channel I am only seeing national temps and forecasts.

Which streaming device are you using?

Last time I checked (which was quite a while ago) pause still hadn’t been added to Amazon FireTV devices.  It was working on the others (I don’t have Samsung to try).

Amazon fire. Do you think that's the problem?

Probably. They’ve added support for pause to the apps one at a time, and for some reason Fire TV seems to be the last one. I just checked and assuming my unit is up-to-date, it still isn’t supporting pause properly. I have no idea why – there certainly seems to have been enough time for them to have implemented it in the Fire TV app.

I just switched from YouTube Tv to the Direct Tv Stream but not being able to rewind and fast forward live Tv is a deal breaker. You have to hit pause first to rewind or fast forward, unless you record the show. Once you hit record on the show, you have complete RW/FF capability. Attempting to RW/FF live Tv on my Apple TV results in a channel change until I pause and then you can RW or FF. Just bizarre functionality and the only streaming service we’ve run into this issue.

I wasn’t aware that was an issue on AppleTV.  I’m pretty sure it worked properly at one point - certainly iPhone and iPad currently “auto-record” starting when you switch to a channel - no need to explicitly pause.

I've had Dtv Stream for just over a year. I started this thread b/c I missed the Tivo 6 tuner feature. Before that --Dtv Satellite Genie tuners/buffers. I've gotten used to not having "tuners" but it would be nice when we switched channels--if it's being recorded-there would be a buffer instead of having to go into the dvr list and play it from there.

It would, and that doesn’t seem like it should be difficult to do. Nor does having an indication in the EPG display that shows are recording (or are scheduled to). Unclear why they don’t add some of these easy things that would improve the UX.

Unfortunately, I switched from YouTube TV to Direct TV STREAM in the hopes of less issues during sporting events. However, I’ve  immediately run into the inability to rewind and fast forward live events. The only way to get RW/FW capability is if you record the show and then go into your library to watch the show. Granted, I’m utilizing the service through an Apple TV but it’s worked without issue on all other streaming services.  Anyone else having a similar issue in any other devices?

Of course it's impossible to Fast Forward Live TV. That would jump you into a future broadcast that hasn't happened yet. I can Rewind Live TV on my streaming devices, at least to the point that I turned on the device. There's no streaming buffer when the device is off.

After rewinding in a football game to watch a replay, it’s nice to be able to fast forward to get back to live action. Are you streaming via an Apple TV?
