Pixels
While in the guide switching to a channel, that channel will Pixel for a minute before tuning in to a decent picture. What is going on here?
I'm using a roku on software 11.0.

I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE and then I found this thread. I have 8 Rokus (sticks/ultras/express etc...) and the pixilation is happening to me also. I have only noticed it start in the last few weeks. Nothing has changed with my internet or my device setup. I have a strong signal throughout the house and always have. I've been with this service from the first days of its existence, and this is the only time I have noticed this phenomenon. I think DTV doesn't want to admit something is awry.

I have the same issue. Have switched to a wired instead of wireless connection. Have swapped HDMI cables. Have switched inputs. ONLY issue is with the DirectTV Stream App. All other apps work flawlessly. Apple TV, Amazon Prime, Netflix, Hulu, HBO Max - NONE have a pixelation issue. In my mind it’s DirectTV stream - not the device or the setup.

@Scotthousehold I’m glad you were able to wire your device via Ethernet. Just to confirm, you are currently streaming with a Roku device?
A call to DIRECTV STREAM (number in my greeting below) should fix this up. As multiple customers have reported the same pixelation on their DIRECTV STREAM service, I conclude that it is OK to say that this is an issue on DIRECTV STREAM’s side and is not specific to each customer. With that being said, you would need to call in and let them know about the technical issue going on with Roku devices. If the agent refuses to listen or simply doesn’t understand, you can ask for retention and an agent there will take your concern more seriously. This way, they can report it to the proper department.

We tested Directv Stream and found that when switching channels, it took about 10 seconds for the picture to stabilize. You could most readily recognize the problem when watching a news or sport channel with a ticker feed at the bottom. It would (Edited per community guidelines) and you could tell that the rest of the picture was not in full HD. It was the worst on the Samsung TVs using the native app, and still did it on the Apple TVs (but would rectify much faster).
The agent said he could put a ticket in and "fix it" but we were coming up on the end of the free trial and didn't want to take the risk.

Comparing the stream from Dtv Stream to netflix, hulu, amazon prime, etc is like comparing apples to oranges.

I am having this same kind of problem with my Insignia Roku TV. It worked great until the past month or so. Tuning in the first channel, then between channel switches it pixelates and freezes the top of the screen the for about 10 seconds...all the while the sound continues, then the picture straightens out. I have another Roku device in the house that does not have this issue, both running V11. And nothing in my network has changed. And all my Apple TV's work fine for DTV.
Just wondering if anyone had gotten a solution to this?

It's just the video syncing up with the display. You have to remember that this is streaming via the internet, not cable. Happens when the bandwidth slows and older, less powerful streaming devices are being used. Not a big deal. Other services also exhibit this issue on occasion.

Nonsense, problem does not happen when using Apple TV or Fire Cube/stick. Only with Roku and the Ospry box.

Would like to see people saying Prime and Netflix are different than Dstream. The streaming services are classified as Over The Top structures and use the internet the same way.
Most issues here are of a processing nature. Therefore the procedures of clear cache, clear data, uninstall, reinstall, or reset device to default status is all an end user can do.

It seems obvious this is a compatibility issue with directv stream in combination with roku 11 software. So who will fix it directv or roku? All other roku apps working fine, wifi connect and speed fine. Pixelation only of directv stream app across multiple devices.

@Katgal500 DIRECTV STREAM is in charge of their app for Roku. Unless your Roku is very old and too slow for streaming live TV, this is DIRECTV STREAM’s fault. Try calling them (number in my greeting below) and letting an agent know.

I am having the same issue. I have two streaming services and when I switch to the same channel on another provider I don’t have pixelation.
Please advise as to what you all are going to do to fix this or I can go back to YouTube TV.
As an FYI, I am using a 4K Firestick.

I was following the lead of this thread. Not sure why you are telling me to contact support and that’s not what you said to others 13 days ago.
I was actually looking for Directv Help to respond to my comment.
No worries. I won’t make the mistake of posting anything else here.

Gee, why take it so personal. We are all just customers here. If you have a issue, why not just go to support. Those Help personnel employees are just low-level first line agents that primarily work from scripts and mainly only guidelines to support articles. Go to the support page and get a real support rep.
