Requesting a channel

Nice package in my area but when I cut the cord I lost The CW. Any chance of adding it?

Thanks.

Unfortunately we don’t have the answer being we are customers just like you. Try getting the independent CW app on a streaming device (if you have one) or you can setup an over-the-air (OTA) antenna and aim it towards your local CW station.

@davecuz

Chances are slim for them to add. They need to have an agreement with the local affiliate and only if it is in your Designated Market Area (DMA) per Federal regulations. It is possible that your broadcast center for your prior cable company (what I assume you meant by "cut the cord") was in their market, but for satellite your physical service address is not.

To be sure, check the current local channels avaialble (click on the local/rsn tab).

DTV offers the same packages nationwide.

If you "cut the cord" and went to satellite, you didn't really "cut the cord" considering your channels and price are similar.

Moving this thread to the correct DirecTV Stream Forum.

You can view many CW shows via their own streaming app.

As with the other broadcast networks, to carry a local affiliate requires DirecTV Stream to have an agreement in place with the network and with the specific local station.  DirecTV Stream does have an agreement with the CW network - and so can potentially make agreements with the local affiliates (as well as carrying on-demand CW content). Making agreements with the local CW stations is apparently more of a problem.  While they have a number, it appears much fewer than their penetration with the major broadcast networks. This may be because some local station owners have been demanding fairly substantial carriage fees - seemingly beyond what DTV considers reasonable for a lower viewership network. And related to that, they may consider adding CW affiliates a lower priority than filling in their coverage of the majors.   One hopes they are continuing the effort.
