Sports Features DIRECTV via internet and DIRECTV STREAM

In case you’ve missed it.

DIRECTV has been working on several sports features in the last 12 months and we would like to call out some of them.

Sports Mode and Stats (also mentioned as Sports Bar here on reddit)
When watching any channel press OK button for 2 seconds and the panel with all live games will pop up on the left. You’ll see the live scores for team vs team games if you turned them on in settings. For NFL, NCAAF, NCAA Men’s Basketball, NBA, MLB, NHL and EPL games click on the right button to see the live stats.
Available on Gemini (Osprey), Roku, AppleTV, FireTV, SamsungTV and AndroidTV

Auto Extend. When setting up a recording you’ll see a screen that it’s set up, along with an “auto extend” badge. It means the game will be recorded fully, even if it goes over the scheduled time. Applies to the NFL, MLB, NHL, and NBA leagues, NCAA Football and Basketball (Division I) and Soccer (UEFA, FIFA).
The auto extend badge also appears on the Team Matchup pages with the events that are being recorded.

Available on Gemini (Osprey), Roku, AppleTV, FireTV, SamsungTV and AndroidTV, Android and iOS phones and tablets.

We see that some users would like to make sure they have a full recording of the games/events that are not part of the list above (like racing). For these cases, please select the next program on the guide that airs after the game and schedule it to record. This way you won’t miss the part that extends beyond the scheduled time. We are working on a solution to help with this.

My Teams carousel. It allows you to add all your favorite teams on the Sports Tab, provides easier access to your team pages and their schedules, where you can also set up team level recordings. After adding a team to your favorites, games featuring that team will be prioritized in the carousels.

Available on Gemini (Osprey), Roku, AppleTV, FireTV, SamsungTV and AndroidTV.

Game notifications. By going to the Team page, you can sign up for the team notifications, so you won’t miss the start of the game of your favorite team.

Available on Gemini (Osprey), Roku, FireTV, and AndroidTV, Android and iOS phones and tablets.

League and Tournament Pages. We created League and Tournament pages, so you can see the schedules of the games, set up league and tournament level recordings and more easily discover games airing in the next few days.

Available on Gemini (Osprey), Roku, AppleTV, FireTV, SamsungTV and AndroidTV, Android and iOS phones and tablets.

All of these are great additions, and I look forward to using them when football season gets here.

If you don't fix the Nexstar deal, I will be missing Chicago Bears games because your "work around" doesn't work and you can't stream Fox, just Fox sports. And there's no streaming service for the local Fox channel. So please, just fix it so I can watch Fox AND ABC. Please.

No one here will fix anything. Why not rant to Nexstar? I sure do not want to pay anymore.

@motobill88 Blame Nexstar. They are the ones being greedy....unless you want to pay more for Directv Stream. Contact and gripe to Nexstar.

"gripe to Nexstar"....."and why can't you?" Condescending (Edited per community guidelines). I've complained to ALL involved, several times. When I signed up in 04/23, ALL the channels worked. Now they don't. I don't appreciate a smart*** answering ANYTHING, so save it for Target, Karen. Wanna help? Don't answer. How's THAT for a work-around??? I want WHAT I'M PAYING FOR.

Technically (according to the Terms of Service that you implicitly agreed to when you subscribed) you pay to get whatever channels DTV supplies you.  Quoting from section 5.1 of the ToS:

We reserve the unrestricted right to change, rearrange, add or delete Our programming packages, the selections in those packages, Our prices, and any service We offer (including the Service), at any time.

They have that because they can't control everything.  That can't prevent a content owner from making a channel go away, they can't control if a content owner changes the nature of a channel, and (as applies here) they can't control if a content owner demands a major increase in the fee they charge DTV for carriage.  For local channels (which you get for free if you use an antenna), the increases some channel owners are demanding seem absurd.  They use the anger of the viewers, by having the viewers direct that anger at the carrier, not at themselves - as you are..  If DTV just gave in to Nexstar, they would have to raise everyone's cost to pay for it.  That would irritate me greatly, as none of my locals are owned by Nexstar, so I would effectively be subsidizing you, and nothing personal, but I have no interest in that.  If they could raise just your cost, then it wouldn't be my problem, just yours (and everyone else who gets a Nexstar station) - but it doesn't work that way.  So DTV is looking out for all the subscribers (and obviously their own subscriber count) by pushing back on these demands.  If you are that unhappy (and are unwilling or unable to use the workaround of an antenna, at least for now), then you can always look for an alternative service that does have the content you want - your aren't locked in here.

Can I get sport central on  Directv stream with the osprey box? Or is Direct TV going to squeeze another $120 out of me and force me to buy the Gemini box which is just a re-branded osprey box as far as how it interacts with the streaming service goes

As you note, Osprey and Gemini are the same thing.  Even the original post in this thread by a DTV rep says so - they use the phrasing “Available on Gemini (Osprey)”.   I’m not sure what you’re referring to as “sport central”, but as far as I know, all of the sports features are available on all of the supported device types, not just on Gemini/Osprey.

If you are talking about Sports Central on ESPN, then yes.

No, I'm talking about The Sports Central Feature that DTV is advertising with Travis Kelce

Is that different from the Sports Mode and Stats the DTV rep mentioned in the first post in this thread?
