Sports Features DIRECTV via internet and DIRECTV STREAM

In case you’ve missed it.

DIRECTV has been working on several sports features in the last 12 months and we would like to call out some of them.

Sports Mode and Stats (also mentioned as Sports Bar here on reddit)
When watching any channel press OK button for 2 seconds and the panel with all live games will pop up on the left. You’ll see the live scores for team vs team games if you turned them on in settings. For NFL, NCAAF, NCAA Men’s Basketball, NBA, MLB, NHL and EPL games click on the right button to see the live stats.
Available on Gemini (Osprey), Roku, AppleTV, FireTV, SamsungTV and AndroidTV

Auto Extend. When setting up a recording you’ll see a screen that it’s set up, along with an “auto extend” badge. It means the game will be recorded fully, even if it goes over the scheduled time. Applies to the NFL, MLB, NHL, and NBA leagues, NCAA Football and Basketball (Division I) and Soccer (UEFA, FIFA).
The auto extend badge also appears on the Team Matchup pages with the events that are being recorded.

Available on Gemini (Osprey), Roku, AppleTV, FireTV, SamsungTV and AndroidTV, Android and iOS phones and tablets.

We see that some users would like to make sure they have a full recording of the games/events that are not part of the list above (like racing). For these cases, please select the next program on the guide that airs after the game and schedule it to record. This way you won’t miss the part that extends beyond the scheduled time. We are working on a solution to help with this.

My Teams carousel. It allows you to add all your favorite teams on the Sports Tab, provides easier access to your team pages and their schedules, where you can also set up team level recordings. After adding a team to your favorites, games featuring that team will be prioritized in the carousels.

Available on Gemini (Osprey), Roku, AppleTV, FireTV, SamsungTV and AndroidTV.

Game notifications. By going to the Team page, you can sign up for the team notifications, so you won’t miss the start of the game of your favorite team.

Available on Gemini (Osprey), Roku, FireTV, and AndroidTV, Android and iOS phones and tablets.

League and Tournament Pages. We created League and Tournament pages, so you can see the schedules of the games, set up league and tournament level recordings and more easily discover games airing in the next few days.

Available on Gemini (Osprey), Roku, AppleTV, FireTV, SamsungTV and AndroidTV, Android and iOS phones and tablets.

"gripe to Nexstar"....."and why can't you?" Condescending (Edited per community guidelines). I've complained to ALL involved, several times. When I signed up in 04/23, ALL the channels worked. Now they don't. I don't appreciate a smart*** answering ANYTHING, so save it for Target, Karen. Wanna help? Don't answer. How's THAT for a work-around??? I want WHAT I'M PAYING FOR."

DTV could have kept the programming through OCT 21 while negotiations were taking place, they did not. So, now what's going to happen is, DTV will cave anyway at the last second when football season start.

So why not keep the programming, keep your customer base happy, and work on negotiations in the background? They bluffed and Nexstar called it.

Is there some confusion about what "Sports Central" is???

I thought it was a NEW feature, DTV is running ads with Travis Kelce about it, for the love of Pete it's on the front page of their website.

I was certainly confused. This looks good if it's as good as it sounds and not a play on words for the RedZone.

Once again, auto-extend too often FAILS on NCAA Football games, even when it's listed as a an available feature for that specific game.

This was also problem last season. I noticed it more often early in the year...and today it's happening AGAIN with multiple games, on supported devices (both AppleTV and Osprey box).

And why can't DirecTV allow us to MANUALLY PAD our recordings, like so many other services do? That seems like an excellent work-around, and should't be difficult to implement.

I know this is a not support forum, but I hope others will contact DirecTV help directly like I already have, to request the option to PAD games, and also encourage them to get "auto extend" to work reliably. For a long time they've advertised auto extend as a feature, and it's STILL not working consistently for "available" devices and sports categories.

I understand that manually choosing to record additional shows after the game is an option, but it's a lame work-around. Allowing us to PAD the recording time would be MUCH better.

I recommend tweeting their support folks. They're pretty responsive, although it may just be lip service.

Would love to have either slow motion or frame-by-frame advance available for sports.  That's something I really miss since going to Streaming.
